August 24,2021 Minutes Conley Room, Wheaton City Hall I. Call to Order President Mike Bock called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Those present: Sarah Antas, Mike Bock, Dave Duva, Dee Hicks, Laurie Oberhelman and Tony Asta. II. Approval of agenda Laurie Oberhelman moved and Mike Bock seconded the approval of the agenda. Motion approved by unanimous voice vote. III. Public Comments N/C IV. Approval of Minutes V. Laurie Oberhelman moved and Sarah Antas seconded the approval of the minutes of July 27, 2021. Motion approved by unanimous voice vote. VI. New Business Recognition: Kathy Young ‘s recognition will be discussed next meeting. Fund Raising event: Dave and Sarah are soliciting funds from retailers. Our goal is 20 sponsors @ $250 per year. As of to date we have one sign up. Commission Marketing: Tabled until next month. All the Commissioners feel that we need to become more visual and discussion is needed to work out a plan. VII Old Business Festival of Cultures: To date we have six musical acts, three story tellers and 25 cultural groups. All projects moving forward on schedule. Fire Hydrant Project : Mike Bock has finalized details with Rustoleulm to pick up donated paint. He will follow-up. We will order 2 gallons of red,green, blue, white and yellow – 1 gallon of black and orange – paint. Tony will receive layouts from artists and get approval from Mike to proceed. If needed the Commission will be available to make up kits for the artists. Music in the Park: The project was attended by approximately 100 people. Because of the rental expense, the budget was higher than expected. We might look into a change of venue for 2022. Art contest: Mike Bock is following up with distribution of check to high school student. Sarah Antas moved and Laurie Oberhelman seconded to adjourn at 6:56. Motion approved by unanimous voice vote.
