February 25, 2025 Gamon Room Wheaton City Hall Minutes (to approve)
I. Call to Order
President Lewis Achenbach called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.
II. Roll Call
Those present: Mike Bock, Dee Hicks, Lewis Achenbach, Vittoria Clay, Christine Denz and Lynette Zelis.
Absent: Sarah Antas, and Randy King.
Agenda:
Lynette moved and Christine seconded the approval of the agenda. Motion carried.
III. Approval of Minutes:
Lynette moved and Christine moved to accept January 28, 2025, minutes. Vittoria seconded. Motion carried.
IV. New Business:
none
Old Business:
Make Music – Lewis is waiting for Susan Bishop to finalize the rollout online. Lewis has been meeting with park
district and Downtown Business Association and building a relationship. Margie Wilhelmi, director of Marketing for
the Park District, has agreed to let Make Music project use the bandshell. We would like to have the opening
ceremonies on June 20 headed by the mayor. Details to be worked out.
Red Balloon Gallery (digital mapping project)– Randy has received one estimate for mural finalization which was in
excess of $400,000. Further discussion will proceed at next meeting.

Mike Bock moved, and Vittoria seconded the meeting be adjourned at 6:44. Motion carried.

The purpose of the Fine and Cultural Arts Commission is to:
Increase citizen access to the arts by providing leadership, advocacy, and the support for art that
enriches the cultural vitality of our community.
Provide advice and work cooperatively with the city council to promote fine and cultural arts in the
city.
Foster and promote an appreciation of fine arts within the city by enlisting and encouraging public
and private agencies, as well as the general public, to support art and cultural events within the
city.
At the request of the City Council, review and make recommendations directly to the City Council
for artworks for public buildings and public spaces.
Assist in creating and maintaining a city-wide arts and culture webpage on the city website that
includes links to art-related organizations and individuals who advance art in the city.
