Tuesday, February 19, 2019 Held at City Hall, Wheaton, Illinois I. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm. Present: Nancy Flannery (Chair), Barbara Dutton (Vice Chair), Steph McGrath (Secretary), Bob Purdy, Andrew Welker Absent: Emelie Engling, Maureen Fogerty II. Public Comments None III. Approval of Minutes Minutes of the January 15, 2019 meeting were approved as amended on a motion by Bob, seconded by Andrew and passed unanimously. IV. Old Business A. Nancy reported on her recent attendance at the Wheaton Bicycle Advisory Commission to discuss a possible history bike tour in 2019. Various themes were suggested by the Historic Commission members for bike tours. Nancy will suggest to the Bicycle Advisory Commission the topic of Wheaton in the Civil War era or 1860s. B. Railroad Historic site marker was reviewed. Steph has been in discussion with Nameplate re: design changes. C. Nancy passed out the list of 2019 Preservation Month events. D. The file titles for installation at the Wheaton Public Library were reviewed in terms of what private information to redact from the applications as well as other topics and formats to add. V. New Business A. Copies of the application for landmark status from 617 N. West were distributed for review. The Commission will discuss this application at the next meeting. B. Commissioner Meaghan Jorgensen has submitted her resignation from the Historic Commission and Commissioner Maureen Fogerty intends to submit her resignation in the immediate future. Both are stepping down due to other commitments. C. The Commissioners discussed the issue of using high school students to put up and retrieve the Pride in Preservation signs. VI. Commissioner Comments Steph noted that “This Old House” on PBS was renovating a Mid-Century Modern house. Nancy informed the Commission that Paul Herbert, Executive Director at the First Division Museum at Cantigny Park. was stepping down in April 2019. His replacement will be Krewasky Salter. VII. Adjournment Bob moved to adjourn, Barb seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The meeting concluded at 8:30 pm.
