Library Board

Friday, May 17, 2019 7:45 a.m. I. Call to Order and Roll Call Chairman Bob Lyon called the May 17, 2019 Wheaton Public Library Board of Trustees Foundation Subcommittee meeting to order at 7:45 a.m. in the Library Café Sitting Space. Present at roll call were Foundation Subcommittee Members Mrs. Fenne, Mr. Lyon and Ms. Staron. Also in attendance was Library Director Betsy Adamowski. II. Citizens to Be Heard None III. Endowment History/Update Mrs. Adamowski brought the members up-to-date on the history of the endowment fund and the relationship with the DuPage Foundation. Chairman Lyon shared the DeKalb Public Library handout with donor naming rights opportunities at the DeKalb Public Library. Mrs. Adamowski will discuss this more with the City of Wheaton Manager. IV. Donor Wall Discussion occurred on the development of the Donor Wall. Library Marketing Supervisor, Kelley McDonald will design the wall and B. Gunther & Company will make and install the final product. The wall that the donor wall will reside is the wall directly outside the Library Café space where the current program wall is located. It was agreed that up to 6 donor levels would be used. Suggested donor level names will be presented to the Library Board of Trustees at the June meeting. Chairman Lyon suggested that some sort of technology piece be included to do a visual history of the Library and donors. V. Foundation Event Mrs. Adamowski shared with the group the idea to do an indoor miniature golf event at the Library in January. She stated that the Park District is exploring the possibility to partner with the Library on the event. Donated funds would be split between the Historical Foundation and the Library’s Endowment. Committee members were enthusiastic about this idea. VI. Adjournment There being no further business of the Foundation Subcommittee of the Wheaton Public Library Board of Trustees, Mrs. Fenne moved and Ms. Staron seconded for adjournment.
