LOCAL LIQUOR CONTROL COMMISSION October 8, 2015 I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL VOTE Mr. Kozik called the October 8, 2015 Local Liquor Control Commission meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers of the Wheaton City Hall, 303 West Wesley Street. Upon roll call, the following were present: Commissioner Brown, Chair Taylor, Commissioner Pearse, Commissioner Sender, Commissioner Wolgemuth. Absent: None. City Staff Present: James P. Kozik, Director of Planning and Economic Development. Chair Taylor welcomed Ms. Jennifer Brown as the Commission’s newest member. II. PUBLIC COMMENT There was no public comment. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – May 14, 2015 Commissioner Pearse moved and Commissioner Wolgemuth seconded a motion to approve the minutes of the May 14, 2015 Local Liquor Control Commission meeting as submitted. On a voice vote, all voted aye. IV. NEW BUSINESS Class I Liquor License/Cozymel’s/311 East Loop Road/Mayor Partners, LLC Mr. Russell Birk, Manager of Mayor Partners LLC, stated that he has submitted an application to the City for a Class I Liquor License for Cozymel’s restaurant, 311 East Loop Road. Mr. Birk stated that Mayor Partners, LLC is purchasing the existing restaurant from its current owner and seeks to continue to operate the facility as it currently exists. Mr. Birk stated that for the past two years, he has partnered with the current owners of Cozymel’s to oversee the day-to-day operations of the restaurant. Mr. Birk stated that Cozymel’s has been in business under various owners for over 20 years. Mr. Birk then introduced Mr. Kyle Stough, who previously ran a Cozymel’s outside of Nashville. Mr. Birk stated that Mr. Stough will be the manager of the Wheaton location. When questioned by Commissioner Pearse, Mr. Kyle stated that he has been a restaurant manager for eight years. In response to a question from Chair Taylor, Mr. Stough stated that it is Cozymel’s policy to card anyone who appears under forty years of age. Hearing no questions or comments, Commissioner Pearse moved and Commissioner Sender seconded a motion to recommend to the City Council that Class I Liquor License be issued to Mayor Partners LLC d/b/a Cozymel’s, 311 East Loop Road. On a roll call vote, all voted aye. Local Liquor Control Commission Meeting October 8, 2015 Page 2 of 2 Class I Liquor License/ Sogno/100 N. Hale Street/Le Donne, LLC Ms. Rosaria Migliaccio, Manager of Le Donne, LLC stated that she has submitted an application to the City for a Class I Liquor License for Sogno, a restaurant at 100 N. Hale Street. Ms. Migliaccio stated that Le Donne, LLC is the entity that will assume ownership of the existing restaurant Il Sogno di Barella which will be renamed Sogno. Ms. Migliaccio stated that she will own the renamed restaurant with her cousin Alfonso Longobardi. Ms. Migliaccio stated that she will remain as the restaurants manager. Hearing no questions or comments, Commissioner Pearse moved and Commissioner Brown seconded a motion to recommend to the City Council that Class I Liquor License be issued to Le Donne, LLC d/b/a Sogno, 100 N. Hale Street. On a roll call vote, all voted aye. V. MISCELLANEOUS There was no miscellaneous business. VI. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 P.M. Respectfully submitted, James P.
