November 8, 2018 I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL VOTE Mr. Kozik called the November 8, 2018 meeting of the Local Liquor Control Commission meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. in the City Council Chambers of the Wheaton City Hall, 303 West Wesley Street. Upon roll call, the following were present: Commissioner Brown, Commissioner Sender, Commissioner Wolgemuth. Absent: Commissioner Pearse, Chair Taylor. City Staff Present: James P. Kozik, Director of Planning and Economic Development. Mr. Kozik asked for a motion to appoint a Chair pro tem. Commissioner Wolgemuth moved and Commissioner Brown seconded a motion to appoint Commissioner Sender as Chair pro tem. On a voice vote, all voted aye. II. PUBLIC COMMENT There was no public comment. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – October 11, 2018 Commissioner Wolgemuth moved and Commissioner Brown seconded a motion to approve the minutes of the October 11, 2018 Local Liquor Control Commission meeting as submitted. On a voice vote, all voted aye. IV. NEW BUSINESS Outdoor Special Event Liquor License/Downtown Wheaton Association/Christmas Festival Ms. Paula Barrington, Executive Director of the Downtown Wheaton Association, stated that she is seeking an application for an Outdoor Special Event Liquor License for an event to be held at Martin Memorial Plaza on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 3pm to 6pm as part of their Christmas Festival. Ms. Barrington stated that Tasting DeVine staff will serve warm, mulled wine and Dry City Brew Works staff will serve tastings of craft brew. Ms. Barrington sated that Martin Memorial Plaza would be stanchioned off during the event to prevent consumption beyond the plaza and a Downtown Wheaton Association staff person would be stationed at the entrance/exit to monitor and prevent beverages being taken outside the plaza. WHEATON CITY COUNCIL MEETING AGENDA November 8, 2018 Ms. Barrington further stated that DWA staff will also be responsible for checking ID’s, providing wrist bands and selling the drink tickets for the evening. The drink tickets will then be presented to Tasting DeVine and Dry City Brew Works Bassett trained staff for a beverage. Hearing no further questions or comments, Commissioner Brown moved and Commissioner Wolgemuth seconded a motion to recommend approval of the proposed Outdoor Special Event Liquor License. On a roll call vote; all voted aye. V. MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS Chair pro tem Sender welcomed students for Wheaton North’s AP Government class. VI. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 P.M.
