September 12, 2019 I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL VOTE Mr. Kozik called the September 12, 2019 meeting of the Local Liquor Control Commission meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. in the City Council Chambers of the Wheaton City Hall, 303 West Wesley Street. Upon roll call, the following were present: Commissioner Brown, Commissioner Pearse, Commissioner Sender, Commissioner Wolgemuth. Absent: Chair Taylor. City Staff Present: James P. Kozik, Director of Planning and Economic Development. Commissioner Pearse moved and Commissioner Brown seconded a motion to nominate Commissioner Sender as Chair Pro-Tem. On a voice vote, all voted aye. II. PUBLIC COMMENT There was no public comment. III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – July 11, 2019 Commissioner Pearse moved and Commissioner Brown seconded a motion to approve the minutes of the July 11, 2019 Local Liquor Control Commission meeting as submitted. On a voice vote, all voted aye. IV. NEW BUSINESS APPLICATION FOR CLASS A LIQUOR LICENSE - SUSHI MONO INC. - SUSHI MONO - 230 W. FRONT STREET Kyung Soo Han and Kevin Han, representing Sushi Mono Inc., were in attendance to present an application for a Class A liquor license for Sushi Mono, located at 230 W. Front Street to the City. The Han’s stated that Sushi Mono Inc. is a newly formed entity that is planning to reopen the former business at that location as a sushi restaurant. In response to a question regarding the number of employees, Kevin Han stated they will have 6-8 employees including family members. Kevin Han stated that all employees involved with the sale of alcohol will receive BASSETT training as soon as possible. Commissioner Pearse asked the applicant about their liquor sales policy. Kevin Han stated that it will be the restaurants policy to ask for the ID for everyone seeking to purchase alcohol even if they appear to be of age. WHEATON LIQUOR CONTROL COMMISSION MEETING September 12, 2019 Hearing no further questions or comments, Commissioner Wolgemuth moved and Commissioner Brown seconded a motion to recommend that a Class A Liquor License be issued to Sushi Mono, Inc. On a roll call vote, all vote aye. V. MISCELLANEOUS BUSINESS There was no miscellaneous business. VI. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 P.M. Respectfully submitted, James P.
