MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF
THE WHEATON POLICE PENSION FUND BOARD OF TRUSTEES

A special meeting of the Wheaton Police Pension Fund Board of Trustees was held on Tuesday,
October 29,2019 at 5:00 p.m. at the Wheaton Police Department located at 900 W. Liberty Drive,
Wheaton, Illinois 60187, pursuant to notice.
CALL TO ORDER: Trustee Mathieson called the meeting to order at 5:11 p.m.
ROLL CALL:
PRESENT: Trustees Brett Mathieson, James Craig, Don Wilson, Angela Smith and Tim
Bayee
ABSENT: None
ALSO PRESENT: Attorney Rick Reimer, Reimer & Dobrovolny PC; Court Reporter Pamela
Taylor, County Court Reporters, Inc; Mayor Phil Suess, City of Wheaton;
Kelley Murray and A.J. Weber, Lauterbach & Amen, LLP (L&A); Deputy
Chief P.J. Youker, Wheaton Police Department; Joan McKenna and various
Members of the Public
A motion was made by Trustee Craig and seconded by Trustee Mathieson to designate Attorney
Reimer to serve as the hearing officer in this matter. Motion carried by roll call.
AYES: Trustees Mathieson, Craig, Wilson, Smith and Bayee
NAYS: None
ABSENT: None
IIEARING REGARDING SURVIVING SPOUSE ELIGIBILITY F'OR JOAN MCKENNA:
The Board conducted a hearing on the surviving spouse eligibility of Joan McKenna. A court
reporter was present and a verbatim transcript was taken of the hearing.
A Board discussed deferring the hearing until Ms. McKenna can be represented with legal counsel.
A motion was made by Trustee Craig and seconded to Trustee Smith to defer the hearing as
discussed. Motion carried by roll call vote.
AYES: Trustees Mathieson, Craig, Wilson, Smith and Bayee
NAYS: None
ABSENT: None
A motion was made by Trustee Mathieson and seconded by Trustee Wilson to adjourn the hearing.
Motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
The Board took a brief recess at 6:00 p.m.
Ms. McKenna left the meeting at 6:00 p.m.
Trustee Mathieson called the meeting back to order at 6:17 p.m.

REVIEWADOPT - RESOLUTION REGARDING CONSOLIDATION OF PENSION
FUNDS: The Board reviewed the Resolution Regarding Consolidation of Pension Funds provided
by Attomey Reimer.
PUBLIC COMMENT: Members of the public addressed the Board regarding the consolidation
of pension funds. The Board discussed the matter with the public and answered all questions.
REVIEWADOPT - RESOLUTION REGARDING CONSOLIDATION OF' PENSION
FUNDS (CONTINUED): A motion was made by Trustee Wilson and seconded by Trustee Smith to
adopt the Resolution as presented and to authorize signatures by the Board President and Secretary.
Motion carried by roll call vote.
AYES: Trustees Mathieson, Craig, Wilson, Smith and Bayee
NAYS: None
ABSENT: None
CLOSED SESSION,IF NEEDED: There was no need for closed session
ADJOURNMENT: A motion was made by Trustee Mathieson and seconded by Trustee Wilson
to adjoum the meeting at7:10 p.m. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for November 21,2019 at 5:00 p.m.
