Advance Plans Committee Summary of Meeting Thursday, August 6, 2020 City Council Chambers Attendance AP Committee Members: Mike Greene, (Chair) Chuck Warren, Joe Johnson, Bob Dool, Schane Gross, Renee Duxler; Members Absent: Rob Hartman MAPD staff: Scott Wadle, Mary M. Hunt, Jim Schiffelbein, Stephen Banks, Skylyn Hogan-Turner, Matt Williams, Jeff Vanzandt; Other: None Discussion Summary 1. Advance Plans Committee Chair, Mike Greene called the meeting to order at 10:30 am; 2. The Advance Plans Committee voted unanimously (6 to 0) to approved the July 23, 2020 meeting summary 3. Mary M. Hunt, Principal Planner updated the Committee on Places for People implementation steps. Included was information on the actions of the Land Bank Team that it is now in legal review. The legal review included considerable effort by the Finance Department. Discussion also focused on the activity of the Zoning Team regarding Accessory Apartments, Compact Homes, Duplex development and Small Apartment Buildings and the Incentives Team that is combining a set of incentives appropriate for a given locale. 4. Mary continued by updating the Committee on the Food Policy Plan efforts. The group is beginning to meet again after the furlough of some other staff. Mary explained that the survey results were coming from middle-class and upper middle-class households. The first video was publicized through Facebook inviting people to participate in the Food Survey and explaining the Plan’s purpose. 5. Stephen Banks, Senior Planner presented the Urban Areas of Influence report. Staff is still working with a small number of communities regarding some areas of conflict and the necessary update to their respective Comprehensive Plans. 6. Other business: Commissioner Joe Johnson noted that the Advance Plans agenda did not include the location of the meeting and asked for a recap of the Places for People implementation teams. 7. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 10, 2020 beginning at 10:30 am. 8. With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:53 am.
