Event Description
The purpose of the Wichita Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Board Bikeways Tour is to provide an opportunity for the
board members to experience and discuss: new bikeways, potential bikeways, and bicycling conditions in Wichita. It is
estimated that the tour will last approximately 3 hours. Staff from the City of Wichita Parking and Mobility Division will
lead the tour. The tour will take place on bicycles, members of the public are welcome to attend. Those who wish to
participate but do not wish to bicycle can drive to locations along the route and meet up with the tour participants.
Route
The planned route for the tour is approximately 15 miles and will start in the Exploration Place parking lot, near the
Keeper of the Plains bridge. The planned route for the tour is shown on a map (following page). Below are highlights of
what will be seen along the tour. The route is subject to change depending on weather, pace of the tour, and route
conditions.

During the tour, participants will have an opportunity to experience the following.

2nd Street bike lane
Arkansas River Path
Woodchuck Bicycle Boulevard
o HAWK Signals and one crossing median
Sedgwick County Park Paths
Proposed Bikeways / Intersection Locations
2nd Street Shared Lane Markings
Maple Street Sidepath
9th Street and McLean Boulevard Intersection
