Item Description
1. Call to Barry Carroll, Chairperson, welcomed board members, City staff, and guests and called the
Order meeting to order at 5:30 pm.
2. Approve Motion by to approve the September 13, 2021 meeting notes, Russell Fox (second) motion carried

3. Public There were no public comments.

4. Discussion 1. Additional Signage for the Redbud Path: Naquela Pack, director of Engagement, Wichita State
Items University (WSU). Ms. Indicated that she had been working with the WSU neighbors to
determine how funding could be used for improvements in the neighborhoods adjacent to
WSU. One of the improvements mentioned was to place mile markers and possibly other
signage along the Redbud Multi-Use Path. After discussion of the proposal to fund signage for
the Redbud Multi-Use Path it was determined that Ms. Pack contact city staff to determine
what would be required in posting signage allow path and what administrative steps and
signage requirements would need to be followed in order to provide signage to the Redbud
Multi-Use Pathway.
2. Establish Calendar for 2021-2022 & Review of Term Limits of Board Members: The chair
reviewed the current status of the terms of all the board members. Board members asked
several questions relating to how the process for board appointments and the term limits for
board members. Several board members expressed thoughts on what impact that might have
on the board in March 2022 and other years going forward as board members terms expire.
Following that discussion of the terms the chair asked for thoughts on what items to put on
the calendar for future board meetings. The discussion that followed included establishing a
walking tour of Delano and the bike/ped projects adjacent to Riverfront Stadium. Additionally

it was decided to plan on a CIP presentation by Public Works Engineering staff at the October
meeting and to finalize the board’s CIP recommendations to the city council by January or
February of 2022.
5. Staff Reports and Updates: Mike Tann, Wichita Transit director reported that scooter use was at
around 15,000 trips last month and that there were 1,500 bike rentals which the vendor reported
was one of their highest usage numbers in the U.S. Mr. Tann also indicated that interviews for two
transportation planners would take place next week and he thanked board member Elizabeth
Ablah for her wiliness to sit on the interview panel. In conclusion Mr. Tann felt that at our
November meeting he should be able to provide the board with new information on the status of
the Multi-Modal building that is to be constructed in Delano adjacent to Riverfront Stadium.
Barry Carroll, board chair, mentioned that Public Works Engineering had updated the project
tracking worksheet and that several projects would require new board member assignments.
6. Old Business: There was no old business.
7. New Business: There was no new business.
8. Board Comments: Board member Jane Byrnes had four comments to share with the board:
1. The City of Wichita has established a Sustainability Board and Jane has applied for a position on
the board.
2. The annual WAMPO bike/ped count is coming in late September, count packets are ready and is
always in need of volunteers. She stated that counters should be vigilant, the community
should use the data to improve biking and walking in Wichita.
3. Bike Walk Wichita organization has scheduled community walk for those who wish to take part
in these opportunities.
4. The annual Walktober event for Wichita will take place next month in October with various
walking related activities to be announced soon.
9. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 6:50 pm.
