Order of Business
Call to Order
Council member Williams called the meeting to order at 6:33p.m.and welcomed staff and guest. She
thanked everyone for coming and proceeded with the first order of business.
Approval of Agenda
Roseboro (Wynne) made a motion to approve the agenda as submitted. Motion carried. 8:0
Approval of Minutes
Chaloupek(Wilson) made a motion to approve the minutes as submitted. Motion carried. 8:0

4. Fire Report
Captain Rick Bahr, Wichita Fire Department advised that there were 10 fires in District 1:
6 accidental fires
3 incendiaries fires
1 fire under investigation
Captain Bahr advised that the fires occurred at the following locations:
200 block North Ohio – construction trailer fire
2533 Belmont – attic fire/electrical
5900 Mainsgate – car fire
2700 E Lincoln – bedroom fire
2800 E Central – vandalism/juveniles involved
600 N New York – fire started to cover up a robbery
1000 S Pattie – deck fire/discarded cigarette in plants
500 Broadview – deck fire/discarded cigarette in plants
600 N Harding – deck fire/discarded cigarette in plants
600 N Harding – deck fire/discarded cigarette in plants
5400 E 21st – cigarette on balcony
Captain Bahr advised that the same city ordinances were in place for fireworks for the 4th of
July. He also advised that a special number would be designated for calls regarding illegal
fireworks to help eliminate 911 being flooded with non-emergency calls. Captain Bahr
encouraged to be safe over the holiday.
The Board thanked Captain Bahr for his report.

5. Police Report
Officer Carlson Beat 21, Wichita Police Department advised they would like to conduct a
survey to determine the perception of the crime for the area. He advised that the association
wanted the survey revised and they were working on making the necessary changes. Carlson
advised that they will administer 300 surveys and that the goal was to get the general public
perception on safety in the area.
Carlson advised that Old Town is getting busier and they are looking at methods of controlling
and clearly crowds. He noted that there is about 3,000 people in the 200 block of Mosley each
night.
Carlson advised that auto larcenies in April were 10 and that 8 out of the 10 cars left something
in plain sight. He advised that in the month of May they have dropped down due to media
coverage on the news and radio.
Churchman advised that there was a homeless man living under the overpass near St. Francis.
CM Williams asked how things were going at River Fest. Carlson advised that things have
been quiet.
Officer Feurborn Beat 43, Wichita Police Department reported that they have bust a
drug/meth house in the 3400 block of East Orchard and they also recovered four stolen
vehicles.

Feurborn advised that there would be a large Neighborhood Watch meeting on June 16th at
6p.m. west of McDonald golf course.
Feurborn advised that with the new Beat boundaries, Wesley Medical is not included in his
beat and that he has identified that auto larcenies are a big problem and that him and the
Director of Security for Wesley Medical are working together to try and address.
Feurborn noted that Sleepy Hollow and McDonald are two separate neighborhood associations
but there may be an opportunity to combine as one.
Officer Johnson Beat 32, Wichita Police Department reported that burglaries are occurring
in the area between Douglas – Waterman and Grove – Hillside. She noted that they were not
sure if this was the same group of people or different people, still investigating.
Johnson advised that they were have some issues in the East front area where shots were fired
in the air on three different occasions.
CM Williams advised that some attention needed to be given to the Schweiter area near the
basketball courts as she has received several complaints from residents regarding unwanted
activity at the basketball courts.
Johnson advised that she had been looking into the complaints and that they only have two
reported incidents for the area that included a DV case, a guy shooting in the air, and a large
fight (gang related). She advised that there has not been much activity in the park.
CM Williams stated that she wanted to look at options of possibly removing the basketball
goals from the park as that is where the activity seems to be happening.
Council Member Williams thanked the Officers for their updates.

Updates, Issues and Reports
Chaloupek advised that Linwood Neighborhood Association would be meeting this Saturday and they
are having a guest speaker from the national weather service at 10:00 a.m.
Wilson advised that CNAC would meet Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and that A Price Woodard would have a
get speaker to deal with Civil Preparedness.
Churchman noted that something needs to be done about the net not being able to catch the debris. She
noted that SNCA and SCIA will both meeting on the 3rd Monday at Bethany Church. SCIA will meet at
5:30 p.m. one hour before the neighborhood meeting. She also noted that SCIA will only meeting in
January, July, September, and November.
Wynne advised they had a good neighborhood meeting and that they received an update on the 13th Street
project.
Roseboro advised that the neighborhood picnic was successful. He noted that the drainage ditch is
looking good. Roseboro noted that WIN would be meeting with city leaders to discuss issues on a
quarterly basis.

James that the Rhatigan Center parking lot would be closed due to repairs.
Rich advised that Hyde Neighborhood Association would be having a picnic in June.
CM Williams advised that Rep. Melody Miller-McCray lost her father and the funeral arrangements were
being made. CM Williams advised that the city was having a mowing issue, one of the larger companies
decided to quit unexpectedly. She advised that this will cause the city to get behind in their mowing
schedule of median, parks, and city owned properties.
Wynne wanted to know if the company had a contract. CM Williams responded yes and that staff would
need to work through those details.
CM Williams advised that the delegation visits went well and that she had an opportunity to take them to
tour places such as Timbers, Rainbow, and the Boys and Girls Club.
Domitrovic commended LaShonda on doing an incredible job presenting the New Communities:
Investing in People and Property initiative at the District 1 Breakfast.
Wilson advised that WIN went to NUSA and they are now working to try and get the NUSA conference
here in Wichita in 2015. She noted that Mr. Roseboro was listed on the Who’s Who.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:21 p.m.
