District I Advisory Board Minutes May 2, 2016 www.wichita.gov The District I Advisory Board meeting was held at 6:30 p.m. at the Atwater Neighborhood Resource Center located at 2755 E. 19th St. N., Wichita, KS, 67214. Eight board members, six staff and six members of the public were present. Members Present Staff Present Lavonta Williams Lt. M. Hoelscher, WFD Prisca Barnes Officer M. Motion by Wynne/Wilson, carried 8:0. Approval of Minutes April minutes will be submitted for approval at the June meeting. Public Agenda Scheduled Items No Items Off Agenda Items Armando Michel shared that he is trying to get funding for parking at his business at 1320 E. Central. He shared that he plans to repair the asphalt and then use concrete. District I Advisory Board Minutes May2, 2016 Page 2 of 3 Staff Reports Fire Report Lt. M. Hoelscher, Station 10, shared that fire calls were down in April. Two fires were reported in District I. Half of the city fires are identified as arsons as of now. Fire burn bands were discussed. Police Report Officer M. Lowe, Patrol East, shared an update including follow-up on cars parked in yards in the Country Overlook Neighborhood and special assignments of officers. Officer A. Recio, Patrol South, shared an update including occasionally after hour parties at a motorcycle club. Officer C. Burnett, Patrol North, shared an update including the successful Law Enforcement Parade, the Take Back the Night event at Fairmount Park and the upcoming Bicycle Rodeo at Fairmount Park. Library Report Helen Rigdon, Wichita Public Library, shared an update on Rockwell and Comotara branches, summer reading programs, a story reading event, and the Library is accepting applications for Teen Volunteers 8th thru 12th grade. New Business No Items Board Agenda Updates, Issues and Reports  A. Price Woodard and Murdock NA meetings are going well with providing input for the 9th Street improvements  Community Operations Recovery Empowerment Inc. (CORE) community garden at 1121 N. Green has free mulch available  Schweiter daze and area yard sales are May 19-21st.  Storytime Village update provided  Riverfest button discount sale ends this week  Chief Ramsay will speak at the District I Breakfast on May 7th at 9 am  Redbud Trail Dedication is on May 7th at 11:15am  Lynette Woodard Recreation is enrolling youth for summer camp Recommended Action: Receive and file Adjournment Motion to adjourn by Domitrovic/Wilson, motion passed 8:0.
