Page |1 District II Advisory Board Minutes January 11, 2016 www.wichita.gov The District II Advisory Board meeting was held at 6:30 p.m. at Wichita Downtown Development Corp., 507 E. Douglas, Wichita KS, 67202. The Council Member, seven board members, six staff and four members of the public were present. ATTENDANCE Members Present Staff Present Jennifer Baysinger Capt. Warren King, Fire Kelly Callen Paul Gunzelman, Public Works Dale Carter Alan Taber, Park & Rec Nick Howell Laura Rainwater, Community Sevices Nazir Jesri Chris Mullen Guests Becky Tuttle Jeff Fluhr, Greater Wichita Partnership April Winn Shane Schumacher, USD 259 Council Member Pete Meitzner Members Absent David Babich Carol Jones Blaine Knott ORDER OF BUSINESS Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Nick Howell. Approval of minutes from October 12, 2015: Approved 7-0. Approval of Agenda: Approved 7-0. Public Agenda Scheduled Items: None Off-Agenda Items: None Staff Reports Fire Department Report: Capt. Warren King, reported statistics from November have not been released  WFD won the Battle of the Badges blood drive  No major incidents during November in District II Park and Recreation Department Report: Alan Taber, Recreation Supervisor, Park and Recreation  Winter classes begin next Tuesday, Jan. 19  March 19 Easter Egg hunt Public Works Report: Paul Gunzelman, Public Works Engineering, reported Page |2  Utility work continues at Kellogg and Webb. AT&T will require some temporary lane closures. No left turns beginning in March.  Greenwich Road on schedule to open bids June 01.  143rd St. and 127th St. field check with KDOT to occur in February. Slated project for 2017/18.  Douglas and Linden Street bridge repair has begun. Linden St. entrance has been closed for the duration of the project. A temporary entrance off of Douglas has been installed and is being maintained.  SE High School traffic flow meeting with HOAs will be Jan. 26. There will be a public information meeting at 5:30pm on March 22 at Summit Church.  Signal design for Pawnee/127th and Harry/143rd  Shane Schumacher, USD 259, reported the following statistics:  Every student will be eligible for busing since there are no sidewalks  Approximately 60 buses  220 Staff and 1587 students for 2015/16 school year  Only 188 parking permits were issued for current school year  There will be plenty of parking to accommodate sporting activities, music programs and other school related activities New Business Greater Wichita Partnership: Jeff Fluhr, President of the Greater Wichita Partnership, presented an update on economic development within the downtown corridor. DAB members expressed their enthusiasm for the growth and development that has been accomplished since 2010. Douglas Wichita, KS 67202 ORDER OF BUSINESS Call to Order Approval of Minutes for December 14, 2015 Approval of Agenda for January 11, 2016 Staff Reports 1. Community Police Report Community Police Officers for beat areas in District II will report on specific concerns. Recommended Action: Receive and file 2. Fire Department Report Fire Department Staff for fire stations in District II will report on specific concerns. Recommended Action: Receive and file 3. Park and Recreation Department Park and Recreation Staff for parks in District II areas will report on specific concerns. Recommended Action: Receive and file 4. Public Works Engineering Report Paul Gunzelman, Public Works Engineering, will give an update on District II projects will present preliminary information on SE High School traffic flow for DAB member review. Recommended Action: Receive and file Public Agenda The public agenda allows members of the public to present issues not on the agenda to the Board. Each presentation is limited to five minutes unless extended by the Board. 5. Scheduled Items None scheduled. 6. Off Agenda items Any individual present that did not request to speak on the public agenda prior to the meeting may speak at this time. Recommended Action: Receive and file. New Business 7. Greater Wichita Partnership: Jeff Fluhr, President of the Greater Wichita Partnership, will be presenting an update and vision for economic development for the City. Board Agenda 8.
