District III Advisory Board Minutes for February 4, 2015 District III Advisory Board Minutes February 4, 2015 www.wichita.gov The District III Advisory Board meeting was held at 6:30 p.m. at the Wichita WATER Center, 101 E. Pawnee, Wichita, KS 67211; six District Advisory Board members; six City staff and three signed in members of the public were present. Minutes from the December 3, 2014 meeting were approved. The agenda for the current meeting was approved. STAFF REPORTS Officer Whyte, Wichita Police, reported on Beat 32. There was a bar fight at Harry and Oliver with one dead and the suspect in custody. Officer Tiede is currently working on a project for crime trends in the area and the Presto being robbed multiple times. The Presto robberies is believed to the same suspect. On 33 Beat there has been an increase in auto thefts from vehicles left running unattended. There was at least one aggravated burglary with a garage door being left open. In Hilltop, there is a new trend of gang graffiti and in January there were three burglaries with two being solved. DAB? What is your opinion on the police wearing cameras? A: Right now there is not enough information. Most officers are waiting for information on how they will be implemented and used. Officer Recio, Wichita Police, reported on Beats 24 and 27. The Special Community Action Team (SCAT) is working special assignments in two teams. One of which is addressing crime trends on burglaries. They have cleared 43 cases, arrested 31 suspects, and returned $300,000 in merchandise. DAB? Did any of the arrest receive jail time? A: Unknown at this time. Public: How do local gambling places stay open? Richard Hill, 4555 Laura, reported that he is unhappy with some buildings able to have smoking and others are not. NEW BUSINESS Scheduled Items None BOARD AGENDA A DAB Member suggested that he would like to see information on how Council Member Clendenin has voted on issues that the DAB had made recommendations on.
