District IV Advisory Board Minutes for January 5, 2015 District IV Advisory Board Minutes January 5, 2015 www.wichita.gov The District IV Advisory Board meeting was held at 6:30 p.m. at the Alford Library at 3447 S. Meridian, Wichita, KS 67217; Vice Mayor Blubaugh, nine District Advisory Board members; four City staff, and one member of the public were present. Minutes from the December 1, 2014 meeting were approved. Agenda for the current meeting was approved. STAFF AGENDA Lt. Williams, Wichita Fire, reported that the Wichita Fire Department had a total of 24 fires City-wide, six in District IV (all accidental): On 12/2 there was a fire fatality on S. Osage, on 12/21 there was a fire on the 1000 block of Esther, on 12/28 there was a fire on the 1100 block of W. Jewell, and on 12/31 there was a fire on S. Vaughn. The Wichita Fire Department wants citizens to be aware of chimney flue pipes, space heaters, wood stoves, and flammable objects near any heat sources. Officer McHenery, Wichita Police, reported that for District IV in December, there were 88 auto larcenies, specifically in church parking lots, shopping malls, and apartment complexes. There were 68 shoplifts and 55 building larcenies. The West Bureau reported that they received a good response on their toy drive for youth in domestic violence situations. DAB? What’s the best way to suggest a suspect to police in a neighborhood crime? A: Get the case number from the victim and call up to the 6th floor of City Hall and ask to speak to the detective in charge of the case. 1 District IV Advisory Board Minutes for January 5, 2015 Officer Kern, Wichita Police, reported on Beats 24 and 27. There was a drive by that bordered the south and west sides on the 3rd of January which involved 5-6 shots and two suspects in a dark colored Chevy truck. The shots hit a nearby apartment building and a car traveling down the street. There was also an increase in burglaries and larcenies. South Bureau had a good turn out for it’s toydrive for children with cancer.
