District V Advisory Board Meeting Minutes August 06, 2012 www.wichita.gov The District V Advisory Board Meeting was held at 6:30 p.m. at Fire Station #21, 2110 N. 135th West In attendance were seven (7) District Advisory Board members, three (3) staff and three (3) citizens with three (3) signing in. Maize Rd Dalton Glasscock Pat Ream Paul Truitt Order of Business Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:32 p.m. Motion was made to approve the minutes from the June 04, 2012 meeting. Motion passed 7-0. Motion was made to approve the agenda for the August 06, 2012 meeting. Motion passed 7-0. Public Agenda 1. Scheduled items Lights on the River, presented by Sarah Goertz, RiverCity WRAPS. The purpose of this holiday light show is to promote water quality. The group us looking for boaters, sponsors and volunteers. The event will take place at sundown on December 1st on the river in downtown Wichita. The goal is to engage 30 boats of all kinds: motor, sail and even possible canoes. The boats will be decorated with holiday decorations/ lights. The registration fee is $35. Action: Receive and file. 2. Off Agenda items No items presented Action: Receive and file. Staff Presentations 3. WPD/Community Police Report Officer L. Kimrey, WPD, reported on beats 16, 18, 19, and 199 and District V Neighborhoods.  16 Beat- This is now Officer Haught’s Beat.  18 Beat- Break-in’s reported at over 40 residences (Maize and Kellogg area). There was only 1 actual burglary and 2 auto larcenies.  19 Beat- Concerns about a citizen with a vicious dog. Ongoing issues related to WPD and OCI. Auto break-ins at Berkshire Apartments ( Tyler and 21st)  199 Beat- This is now Officer Davidson’s Beat. Action: Receive and file. 4. Wichita Fire Department Report Batt. Chief Andy Cole, WFD, reported on District V statistics and other WFD information. July fire reports: ____ no fire statistics given ____medical service calls- did not have numbers ____service alarms- did not have numbers ____ County assists- did not have numbers OTHER: many fires at this time of year are due to dumping ashes from the charcoal grill when they are still hot. Chief Cole reported that WFD is working on a program that will provide the above numbers specific to District V. Action: Receive and file. Each presentation is limited to five minutes unless extended by the Board. 1.
