3. Street closures for race events
District V Advisory Board (DAB) considered a presentation made by Isaac Unruh, Event Coordinator, with the
Division of Cultural Arts regarding street closures for runs, walks and local marathons. He presented ideas such
as new policies for race promoters to notify affected neighborhoods and businesses, an increase in volunteer
requirements, developing a comprehensive calendar of events with street closure information, contacting media
outlets for coverage and signage along major arterials listing street closure information in advance of the event.
Mike Greene commented on the suggestions made and asked about the availability and cost of electronic
signage.
Bryan Frye asked about the current procedure to notify the public about street closures for events. Is it on the
City website, can it be announced at DAB meetings?
Mr. Unruh noted the comments made and will take them back to staff for review.
