Minutes 1 October 20, 2014 District V Advisory Board Meeting Minutes www.wichita.gov Wichita Fire Station #21 October 20, 2014 2110 N. 135th St. W. 6:30 p.m. Wichita, KS 67235 The District V Advisory Board Meeting was held at 6:30 p.m. at Fire Station #21, 2110 N. 135th West Wichita, KS 67235. In attendance were five District Advisory Board members, two City staff and a member of the public who signed in. Members Present Staff Present Mike Hill Captain Mark Dewey, WFD Station 21 Bryan Frye Martha Sanchez, Community Liaison Jose Gutierrez Mike Greene Guests Troy Palmer Ron Trowbridge Members Absent Council Member Longwell Kelly Watkins JV Johnston Jill Kerschen Paul Truitt Order of Business The meeting was called to order by Pro Tem, Mike Hill at 6:30 p.m. Approval of Agenda The agenda was approved as submitted. Motion passed: (5/0) Approval of Minutes The minutes for September 15, 2014 were approved as submitted. Motion passed: (5/0) Public Agenda 1. Scheduled items: None *****Action: Received and file 2. Off Agenda items: Ron Trowbridge, spoke to the DAB members to address traffic safety concerns at the intersection of Sterling Street and North Maize Rd. The increase traffic flow along Maize Road has caused the intersection to be unsafe for vehicles turning onto Maize Road and residents walking or biking to New Market Square. Trowbridge believes a motion detective stop light is need at the intersection. Trowbridge has address his concern to the DAB in passed meetings and to Paul Gunzelman from the City of Wichita. *****Action: Mike Hill will follow up with both Council Member Longwell and Mr. Gunzelman to address Mr. Trowbridge concern and find a viable solution. Minutes 2 October 20, 2014 Staff Presentations 3. Wichita Fire Department Report Captain Mark Dewey, WFD Station 21, gave a brief update on the activities at Station 21. WFD were dispatched to a commercial fire at the Old Chicago Restaurant on Tyler and 21st Street. The fire was caused by an opened gasoline container near the hot water tank. The fire caused over $30,000 worth of damage to the property. In the District V area Fires Stations responded to 288 medical emergency calls in the month of September, compared to 93 calls last year in the same month. Indicating that west Wichita is becoming more dense both residential and commercial customers. DAB? Where can we find a report indicating how many auto accidents have occurred on 21st Street and Maize Road? A: The Wichita Police Department would have that information. *****Action: Receive and file.
