Page |1 District V Advisory Board Minutes February 1, 2016 www.wichita.gov The District V Advisory Board meeting was held at 6:30 p.m. at Fire Station #21 located at 2110 N. 135th St W., Wichita, KS 67235. JV Johnston Jill Kerschen Guests Ben Kittrell Lonnie Wright Trevor Kurth Troy Palmer Alissa Unruh Members Absent Jose Gutierrez Darrell Leffew ORDER OF BUSINESS Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Mike Greene Approval of minutes from Januar 4, 2016: Approved 8-0. Approval of Agenda: Approved 8-0. Board Agenda CM Bryan Frye:  Library CIP Project – Council to vote on tomorrow  State Legislative Update – Ken Evans’ report deferred until next month’s meeting  Council Attended a Golf Course Workshop  Rounds played and revenue up  Looking really good long term  Download the free Golf App to reserve tee times, record and track rounds played and use Golf GPS Staff Reports Fire Department Report: Capt. Mark Dewey, reported statistics for December 2015  One fire (on Stoney Point) in District V for the month of January. Undetermined cause  Reminded everyone to use caution when burning candles. Never leave unattended Action Taken: Receive and file Page |2 Community Police Report: Community Police Officer, Charley Davidson, reported.  Seeing an increase in larceny to vehicles  One robbery at Valero at Central & Ridge  Increase in burglaries and larcenies to homes along Big Ditch. Patrol has been stepped up Public Works Report: Shawn Mellies, Special Project Engineer, reported.  North Ridge Road – Dewatering for new development infrastructure  Central & Norman – Negative flow drainage being corrected  Water main replacement in Country Acres – 3-4 miles of 4,6 and 8” pipe is being replaced with 8” pipe DAB? : When will work begin? A: Work will take place in two phases with construction beginning in March DAB? : Will homeowners be notified? A: Yes due to interruption of service  Woodchuck Bicycle Boulevard - A shared vehicle and bicycle route will be established along a route beginning at Westport St. and Ridge Rd. ending at Woodchuck St. and Maple. A flashing beacon and crosswalk will be added on Ridge Rd. at Westport and on Central at Redbarn Ln. Updates, Issues and Reports Opportunity is provided for the Council Member and the District Advisory Board members to report any activities, events, or concerns in the neighborhoods and/or Council District. PUBLIC AGENDA This portion of the agenda provides an opportunity for citizens to present issues that are not part of the regular agenda for the meeting. There is a five minute time limit for each speaker. 2. Scheduled items: None 3. Off-agenda items: Any individual present that did not request to speak on the public agenda prior to the meeting may speak at this time. Recommended Action: Receive and file STAFF PRESENTATIONS 4. Strategic Communications Report Ken Evans, Director of Strategic Communications, will report on the City of Wichita 2016 Kansas Legislative Agenda.
