5. Wichita Police Department Report
Officer Lori Kimry, Wichita Police Department, reported:
Working on a lot of special assignments during COVID, especially traffic assignments. Issued 7 tickets on
Northwest Street today. Hit that hard after the fatality. In two weeks we’ll be sitting on 29th Street between
Ridge and Tyler.
Working with hotels and motels running tags looking for warrants.
Did a warrant sweep for larceny warrants. Issuing blue sheets since court is not going right now. Clearing
out warrants on larcenies from 2014. Next week we will be doing traffic citation warrants. Last week we
cleared up 20 warrants in just 7 hours. We’re telling people it’s your get out of jail free day.

7. Wichita Public Library Report
Tracie Partridge, Wichita Public Library, reported:
Fall gardening series is virtual this year with K-State Extension of Sedgwick County Center.
List of upcoming programs at www.wichitalibrary.org/events.
Saving Money on Daily Expenses – Thursday Sept. 24 at 6:30. Jeff Witherspoon with Consumer Credit
Counseling will lead the virtual program.
William Allen White and the Ku Klux Klan in Kansas. It’s a humanities Kansas program that will be
Sunday, September 27 at 2:30. That will also be virtual. You will need to register for those through the
library website to get the Zoom link.
Partnering with Census Bureau. Final day to respond is September 30. It takes just a few minutes to
respond. It’s safe and confidential, and the information gathered is really important because it’s used to
provide daily services, products, and supports to your community.
ALL still doing book a librarian sessions. If individuals need technology help you can call to schedule an
appointment.
Cannot browse selection. Concierge service is offered. Library staff will pull items from collections for
customers.
Grab bag service for youngest customers. Board books, picture story books, early readers. Forms on the
website. Customers can use online catalog and place holds by calling.
8. Public Works & Utilities Report
James Wagner, Public Works & Utilities, reported:
Projects Under Construction
13th Street, Cowskin Creek to 135th Street
o Storm sewer work complete. Doing paving work. 13th Street now open from 135th to the
east to Liberty.
o Work at 135th Street intersection nearly complete. All concrete pavement is down.
o 2-way traffic to resume in late 2020.
37th & Tyler Traffic Signal
o All parts are in production. Supposed to be here by October. Should be complete minus
the equipment. October will put in the equipment.
Walking Path Repairs
o Sunset Park. Construction to begin late August. Complete by late 2020.
Pavement Preservation
o 2020 Program
Asphalt Overlay – complete
Crack Seal
o Arterial Streets
o Finish up in October/November
o 2021 Program
Going to City Council for approval in October
Projects in Design
Aquatics Master Plan. Phase 2 set to bid Sept. 11. Includes Harvest Pool. Goal to have ready by
next summer.
Hoover bike path, selected a vendor to order signals. Getting them ordered well in advance.

A – Spring 2021
Q (DAB) – If I knew general contractor, landscape architect, that want to bid on projects, who would I
refer them to?
A – Start with Chief Design Engineer.
