Woodland, Wichita, KS 67204 6:30 p.m. Conference Room ORDER OF BUSINESS -- Call to Order -- Approval of Minutes for June 5, 2017 PUBLIC AGENDA This portion of the agenda provides an opportunity for citizens to present issues that are not part of the regular agenda for the meeting. There is a five minute time limit for each speaker. 1. Scheduled items: Recommended Action: Receive and file 2. Off-agenda items: Recommended Action: Receive and file STAFF PRESENTATIONS 3. Fire Department Report Staff will give a brief report on District VI issues, problems and events Recommended Action: Receive and file. 4. Community Police Report Community Police Officers will give a brief report on District VI issues, problems and events. Recommended Action: Receive and file. NEW BUSINESS 5. Permanent Closure of Elder at Maple Mike Armour, Public Works & Utilities, will present recommendation to approve permanent closure of Elder Street at Maple and the construction of a cul-de-sac. Elder Street intersects with Maple Street on the north side, approximately 80 feet east of I-235. Elder Street was closed at Maple last summer due to construction of the Kellogg & I-235 Interchange project. As part of that project, the northbound I-235 bridge over Maple will be widened 22 feet to the east. With the widening of the northbound I-235 bridge over Maple, the sight distance for traffic on Elder at Maple is a concern to City staff. Recommended Action: It is recommended that the District Advisory Board recommend approval of the permanent closure and construction of cul-de-sac. Agenda July 10, 2017 2 6. Improvements to 17th St, Broadway to I-135 Tim Davidson, Public Works & Utilities, will present recommendation to approve design concept for improvements to 17th St, Broadway to I-135. The section of 17th between Broadway and I-135 is currently a two lane roadway with sporadic sidewalks, an inadequate drainage system, and multiple railroad crossings. The proposed design is for a three-lane roadway, which includes a center two-way left turn lane and one through lane in each direction. The proposed design will also include replacing the undersized storm sewer system and adding pedestrian/bike facilities to the corridor. Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2019 and be completed by early 2020. Recommended Action: It is recommended that the District Advisory Board recommend approval of the proposed design concept presented by staff. BOARD AGENDA 7. Issues of Concern DAB members have the opportunity to ask questions regarding City topics and identify issues of concern to be addressed. Recommended Action: Receive and file. 8. Neighborhood Reports DAB members may report events/activities from the neighborhood/homeowners groups in their areas. Recommended Action: Receive and propose appropriate action. UPDATES FROM COUNCIL MEMBER The next DAB VI meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on July 19, 2017, at the Evergreen Resource Center, 2700 N. Woodland, Wichita, KS 67203. ADJOURN
