7 Mr. Mangum called the meeting to order at 4:00 p.m.

13 a. Case No. 25-08-ZA - 550 Sheridan Road: An application seeking approval of a zoning variation to allow a
14 new garage door on the existing attached garage that would exceed the maximum permitted width for a front-
15 facing attached garage door for the residence at 550 Sheridan Road.
16 Chairman Mangum asked for the applicant’s presentation. Jennifer Cunningham, the project designer, and
17 Christopher Knight, the general contractor, presented the request. Ms. Cunningham described the property’s
18 configuration and the applicant’s plans to change the existing garage doors into a single garage door which would
19 allow them to park two vehicles in the garage. She stated the new garage door would represent a quality and
20 appearance upgrade. Mr. Knight stated that going from two garage doors to one would be the only change with
21 the exterior of the home to remain the same. Ms. Cunningham described how the trim would match. Mr. Knight
22 then described the short driveway nature which did not allow them to park a vehicle in the driveway.

24 Chairman Mangum agreed the property is unique and the garage is narrow and noted the code allowed up to a 9-
25 foot single garage door but the width of the existing garage would not allow for two 9-foot wide doors. He asked if
26 they considered other design alternatives for the garage door. Ms. Cunningham responded the arch window
27 design and panels would make it appear to be two garage doors and that the applicants were provided with other
28 options that they did not like. Chairman Mangum questioned whether there were any other alternatives to
29 provide further articulation. Ms. Cunningham provided illustrations to Chairman Mangum of the different options
30 that were considered. She also stated she could research other options.

32 Chairman Mangum stated based on the evidence presented and the manner in which the home is situated on the
33 lot, he granted the variation subject to review of the final design to appear as more of two single garage doors. Ms.
34 Cunningham and Mr. Knight agreed to provide additional information to Chairman Mangum.

Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the Winnetka Zoning Administrator on THURSDAY,
MAY 29, 2025, AT 4:00 PM in the Council Chambers of Winnetka Village Hall at 510 Green Bay Road,
Winnetka, Illinois for the purpose of considering the following:
CASE NO. 25-08-ZA
550 SHERIDAN ROAD – GARAGE DOOR
An application submitted by Stephen Liuzza (the “Applicant”), as the owner of the property located at 550
Sheridan Road (the “Subject Property”) to allow a new garage door on the existing attached garage of the
Subject Property. The Applicant has filed an application seeking approval of the following:
1. A variation to exceed the maximum permitted width for a front-facing attached garage door.
The Subject Property (Parcel Index Number 05-21-107-007-0000) is generally located on the west side of
Sheridan Road between Elm Street and Spruce Street and is zoned R-4 Single Family Residential. The Subject
Property contains an existing two-and-a-half story residence with an attached garage.
PUBLIC COMMENT & APPLICATION INFORMATION
At said public hearing and at any continuance thereof, all persons interested are invited to attend and be
