Recent Activity

Recent civic activity in Richmond, VA has focused on planning and development projects. The City Planning Commission recently approved a special use permit for a mixed-use development project at 1461 Commerce Road, which will be sold to City Central, LLC or its affiliate for $4,705,500. Additionally, the commission discussed several other development proposals, including a proposal to build up to 31 single-family attached dwellings on a property in the 5th District, and a public art plan called Richmond INSPIRE - A Citywide Vision Plan for Parks, Recreation & Community Facilities. The planning commission also continued several items from previous meetings, including a discussion about painted planters at the 2nd Street Bus Platform and a proposal to extend the term of a contract with The Salvation Army.
