PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE December 3, 2019 A meeting of the Public Safety Committee was held this date beginning at 3:06 p.m., at 80 Broad Street, City Hall, First Floor Conference Room Notice of this meeting was sent to all local news media. PRESENT Councilmember Shahid, Chair, Councilmember Seekings, and Mayor Tecklenburg Staff: Susan Herdina, and Bethany Whitaker, Council Secretary The meeting was opened with a moment of silence provided by Councilmember Seekings. Approval of Minutes The minutes of the November 25, 2019 meeting were deferred. An ordinance to amend Chapter 2, Section 56, to expand the responsibilities of the Public Safety Committee to include review of judicial candidates nominated by the Mayor. (AS AMENDED) Ms. Herdina stated that they had gotten it down to something that made sense. Councilmember Seekings said that he didn’t like the word ‘regarding’. It should say ‘on’ or ‘about’. On the motion of Councilmember Seekings, seconded by Mayor Tecklenburg, the Committee voted unanimously to approve the above ordinance.
