City of Columbia, Missouri Meeting Minutes Finance Advisory and Audit Committee Friday, June 30, 2017 Conference Room 1C Regular Columbia City Hall 10:00 AM 701 E. Broadway I. CALL TO ORDER Finance Department staff Lynn Cannon and Jessica Sapp were present; along with Nicole Volkert from the Law Department. Present: 6- Kristian Bloom, John Clark, Maria Oropallo, Michele Nix, Lisa Evans and Diane Suhler II. INTRODUCTIONS III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Bloom moved to approve the minutes from the March 3, 2017 meeting. Ms. Evans seconded the motion and the minutes were approved unanimously. IV. SPECIAL ITEMS Ms. Volkert gave her Sunshine Law Presentation that focused on the dos and don’ts for holding public meetings. She answered questions from the committee as they were asked. V. OLD BUSINESS None VI. NEW BUSINESS Ms. Oropallo stated she and Mr. Clark attended the Council Retreat and took notes. She then asked Ms. Nix to review the Power Point presentation from the Retreat for the group. Ms. Nix explained each page and its relevance to preparing the budget. She answered questions as they came up. After slide 36, Ms. Oropallo asked Ms. Nix to pause as the group had run out of time. The group would need to agree to stay longer to get through the 57 slide presentation or schedule another meeting. The group decided to schedule another meeting to finish up the presentation and discuss the remaining new business Ms. Suhler moved to table the remainder of the presentation and all other new business items until the next meeting. REPORTS Ms. Oropallo quickly asked if there was anything in her finance and budget update that she needed to share with the group. Ms. Nix stated there was not. VIII. NEXT MEETING DATE The next meeting date is tentatively set for Friday, August 11, 2017. IX. ADJOURNMENT Ms. Suhler moved to adjourn the meeting.
