A quorum was established. Roll Call Present: 6- Council Member David James (D-6), Committee Member Julie Denton (R-19), Vice Chair James Peden (R-23), Council Member Jessica Green (D-1), Committee Member Jessica Green (D-1), and Chair Person David Yates (D-25) Also Present Council Member Angela Leet, (R-7), Council Member Kevin Kramer (R-11), Council Member Vicki Aubrey Welch (D13), Council Member Kelly Downard (R-16), Council Member Marilyn Parker (R-18), Council Member Dan Johnson (D-21), and Council Member Madonna Flood (D-24). R-044-15 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT $16,000 FROM THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS (ASPCA) FOR PAYROLL SUPPORT TO BE ADMINISTERED BY METRO ANIMAL SERVICES. (Action Required By: August 2015) Sponsors:Madonna Flood (D-24) A motion was made by Vice Chair Peden, seconded by Council Member James, that this Resolution be recommended for approval. R-059-15 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT $1,800 FROM THE COMMONWEALTH OF KENTUCKY DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE FOR SPAY/NEUTER ASSISTANCE FOR PET OWNERS TO BE ADMINISTERED BY METRO ANIMAL SERVICES. (Action Required By: September 2015) Sponsors:David James (D-6) A motion was made by Vice Chair Peden, seconded by Council Member James, that this Resolution be recommended for approval. The motion carried by a voice vote and the Resolution was sent to the Consent Calendar. 3. O-049-15 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING LOUISVILLE METRO CODE OF ORDINANCES (LMCO) 32.730 RELATING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE COMMISSION. (Action Required By: September 2015) Sponsors:David Yates (D-25) A motion was made by Council Member James, seconded by Vice Chair Peden, that this Ordinance be recommended for approval. The motion carried by the following vote and the Ordinance was sent to the Consent Calendar. Yes: 6- James, Denton, Peden, Green, Green, and Yates 4. R-070-15 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING LOUISVILLE METRO GOVERNMENT TO EVALUATE WHETHER CURRENT LAWS AND THE ENFORCEMENT THEREOF ADEQUATELY ADDRESS THE UNIQUE BUSINESS PRACTICE OF SHORT TERM RENTALS. (Action Required By: September 2015) Sponsors:James Peden (R-23), Tom Owen (D-8), Bill Hollander (D-9), David Yates (D-25), Julie Denton (R-19), Kelly Downard (R-16), Jessica Green (D-1), David James (D-6), Dan Johnson (D-21) and Angela Leet (R-7) A motion was made by Council Member James, seconded by Vice Chair Peden, that this Resolution be recommended for approval to the Metro Council. The motion carried by a voice vote and the Resolution was sent to the Consent Calendar. R-043-15 A RESOLUTION URGING THE KENTUCKY GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO PASS THE NECESSARY LEGISLATION TO MERGE THE SUBURBAN FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICTS IN JEFFERSON COUNTY, KENTUCKY WITH THE LOUISVILLE DIVISION OF FIRE. (Action Required By: August 2015) Sponsors:Dan Johnson (D-21) A motion was made by Vice Chair Peden, seconded by Council Member James, that this Resolution be brought to the table for discussion. A motion was made by Council Member James, seconded by Vice Chair Peden, that this Resolution be tabled. The motion carried by a voice vote.
