3. Approval of the February 22, 2018 meeting minutes.
Mayor Barrett, seconded by Mr. Crowley, moved to approve minutes of February 22,
2018 meeting. There were no objections.
4. Update:The Campaign for Black Male Achievement.

Mr. Roman gave council members an update of upcoming activities:
Campaign for Black Male Achievement
• Quantifying Hope and Rumble Young Man Rumble - Milwaukee (April 30-May 2)
this is a capacity building and investment strategy to impact local leaders and
organizations working with Black men and boys.
• Promise of Place: Milwaukee
A roadmap for local philanthropy and the private sector to ensure the growth,

sustainability and impact of local leaders and organizations walking to improve life
outcomes of Black Men an dBoys in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

• Black Fatherhood Project (Oct. 16th) - Milwaukee Fatherhood Summit
• CBMA 10 Year Anniversary Gala (Oct. 18 - NYC)
• Milwaukee BMA Summit (Oct. 23-26)
5. Obama Foundation: MBK Community Challenge Competition.
Mr. Mahan said that My Brother's Keeper Alliance have announced a $5,000,000 dollar
grant for technical assistance that would target 12 communities in 3 areas of impact
for innovations, mentoring and youth violence and there will also be matching fund to
hire a MBK community coordinator.
6. Update: MPS Department of Black & Latino Male Achievement.

Dr. Baez Internal Director of the Black Latino Male Achievement Team (BLMA)
introduced the rest of the team members; Mr. LaNelle Ramey, External Director, Mr.
Paul Moga, Programming Coordinator, Mr. David Castillo, Planning Assistant and Mr.
Sergio Muniz, Public Ally.
The Department of Black & Latino Male Achievement (BLMA) will collaboratively create
systems, structures, and spaces that guarantee success for all Black and Latino boys
and young men in Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS).
BMLA will possess and affirmed sense of identity, dignity and self confidence and will
have the necessary tools to triumphantly navigate college, career and life.
The BMLA Priority Strategies will connect with local and national initiatives on best
practices to launch manhood development academics; improve school design, culture,
and climate; promote positive narratives about Black and Latino Young Men; Black
and Latino Male mentorship; recruit Black and Latino male teachers and
administrators; and develop BMLA sustainability plan and dashboard.
7. Update: Community Engagement & Achievement Collaborative Manager.

and/or Steering and Rules. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether the
presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the Common
Council or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee, whether any
agenda items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In the event that
a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be taken at the
simultaneous meeting.

tickets must be validated in the first floor Information Booth in City Hall.
Persons engaged in lobbying as defined in s. 305-43-4 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances are
required to register with the City Clerk's Office License Division. Registered lobbyists appearing
before a Common Council committee are required to identify themselves as such. More information
