Northwest Side CDC is a 44-year-old community development agency and was
involved with the Villard Ave redevelopment. In 2005 they moved to the 30th Street
Industrial Corridor in the DRS Power Controls building. They spent six years at 30th
and Roosevelt and began work primarily on Century City II north of Capitol Dr. This
honorary street naming would honor Eaton, DRS, Rockwell, Johnson Controls, WE
Energy, etc. and their work in the city and throughout the nation. Eaton moved to
Menomonee Falls and their former building is being used to create an energy power
cluster of buildings. DRS is still in the area and employs about 600 and Century City
I and II are in the area generating jobs. This is an industrial area with no residents.
Mr. Marti said that a new application was submitted to change the name to "Power
Innovation", which the applicant is amenable to.
Mr. Harpole moved, seconded by Mr.McGivern, for approval. There were no
objections.
Meeting adjourned: 9:17 a.m
