Roll Call The meeting convened at 4:08 PM Individual also present: Sally Witte, Department of City Development Present 14 - Murphy, Cubias, DeLind, McSweeney, Morris, Flores, Fraker, Kosarzycki, Murphy, Kovac, Harpole, Klose, Balistreri and Hill Excused 3 - Kingsbury, Layden and Garcia 2. Review and Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes Mr. DeLind moved approval of the minutes from January 12, 2016, seconded by Ald. Kovac. There were no objections. 3. Public Art Subcommittee Report Polly Morris gave the report of the Public Arts Subcommittee. Four proposals were recieved for the New Work Fund and two proposals were received for the Conservation Fund. The applicants for the New Work Fund will be invited to the next subcommittee meeting to present their proposals. The subcommittee voted to fund the request from Dick Blau for $556 for photograph in the Wisconsin Center. Ms. Morris moved approval of funding the Dick Blau request from the Conservation Fund, seconded by Mr. DeLind. There were no objections. The Mary Miss project is called Watermarks and tells the story of water in Milwaukee. A book was produced for the project and the water stories are interactive via smartphone or other media. An artist in residence space has been secured. The ultimate goal is to involve more communities in the discussion of the Milwaukee water story. 4. Grants Update Sally Witte stated the grant guidelines are available online. Murphy stated he received an appeal from Journey House regarding their inability to apply for a grant because they are not an arts organization, he recommended that they partner with an arts organization. 5. 2016 Artists of the Year Ald. Murphy stated Laura Gordon one of the winning artists is no longer a City resident. Mr. Flores moved to rescind the Artist of the Year Award from Laura Gordon, and grant the award to runner-up Dasha Kelly, seconded by Ms. Harpole. Mr. Fraker was the only objector. 6. Old Business The Artist of the Year awards ceremony will be held on the same day as the Friends of the Arts award. 7. Announcements There were no announcements. Parking tickets must be validated in the first floor Information Booth in City Hall. Persons engaged in lobbying as defined in s. 305-43-4 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances are required to register with the City Clerk's Office License Division.
