MILWAUKEE ARTS BOARD PUBLIC ART SUBCOMMITTEE
Tuesday, April 11, 2017 2:30 PM Room 303, City Hall
1. Roll Call
The meeting convened at 2:38 PM
Individual also present:
Sally Witte, Department of City Development
Present 5 - McSweeney, Morris, Murphy, Klose and Layden
2. Review and Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes
Ms. Morris stated "meeting" should be changed to "cycle" under item 4.
Ms. Layden moved approval as amended, seconded by Ms. Klose. There were no
objections.
3. New Work Fund
Ms. Witte stated there is $154,749 available for funding projects, with $10,171
currently incumbered.
The committee discussed applications from the following organizations: Garden
District, Milwaukee Downtown, CUPED, Layton Blvd. West Neighbors Inc, GMC,
ReciproCITY/Fondy Food Center, MLK Economic Development Corp., 5 Points
Neighborhood Association, Inc., Harbor District, Inc., Jazale's Art Studio, and
Khristitecture. Ms. Morris stated the following organizations need email follow-ups:
Garden District, Milwaukee Downtown, MLK Economic Development Corportation,
and Harbor District Inc. Ms. Morris stated the following organizations should present
at the next meeting: CUPED, GMC, 5 Points Neighborhood Association, Inc., and
Jazale's Art Studio. Ms. Morris stated addtional follow-up is need with Layton Blvd
West Neighbors Inc and RecirpoCITY/Fondy Food Center. It was decided that
Khristitecture would not be funded because they are not a 501(c)(3).
4. Conservation Fund
Ms. Morris stated the Bells of Milwaukee needs further follow up and Juneau Park
Friends is ongoing.
5. Old Business
Ms. Layden stated on May 18th at 5:30 PM there will be a listening session regarding
New Work Fund Application procedures and guidelines at Marquette University
Haggerty Museum.

Ms. Witte stated the Museum of Wisconsin Art is having a Milwaukee creative
placemaking event on Mother's Day weekend.

In the event that Common Council members who are not members of this committee attend this
meeting, this meeting may also simultaneously constitute a meeting of the Common Council or any of
the following committees: Community and Economic Development, Finance and Personnel, Judiciary
and Legislation, Licenses, Public Safety, Public Works, Zoning, Neighborhoods & Development,
and/or Steering and Rules. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether the
presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the Common Council
or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee, whether any agenda
items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In the event that a
simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be taken at the
simultaneous meeting.

ART SUBCOMMITTEE
Limited parking for persons attending meetings in City Hall is available at reduced rates (5 hour limit)
at the Milwaukee Center on the southwest corner of East Kilbourn and North Water Street. Parking
tickets must be validated in the first floor Information Booth in City Hall.
Persons engaged in lobbying as defined in s. 305-43-4 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances are
required to register with the City Clerk's Office License Division. Registered lobbyists appearing
before a Common Council committee are required to identify themselves as such. More information is
