1. Roll Call
The meeting convened at 3:10 PM
Ms. Layden joined the meeting at 3:12 PM

2. Review and Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes
Mr. Murphy moved approval, seconded by Ms. Klose. There were no objections.
3. New Work Fund
October 26, 2017 at 6PM - Public Art Listening Session
4. Conservation Fund
Sally Witte stated that Site Specific Staffing on National has a mural that is
deteriorating and they attempted to contact the artist. They are thinking of painting a
new mural. She stated that she will encourage them to submit an application if they
are considering doing the project. She stated that she will confirm whether or not the
project can be funded due to the organization being for-profit.
5. New Business
Ms. Morris stated that MMSD is considering hiring someone to integrate art into
projects, her name was mentioned, and while meeting with the group, she suggested
seeking an artist resident for the River Reclamation Projects.
6. Old Business

- Karen Lindholm-Rynkiewicz - The New Water Parade which will include the renting of

barges less than 12 ft tall due to bridges like the Wells Street Bridge. The barges
and/or floats will exhibit active art and travel about 4 miles of the river. She stated that
there are several artists willing to participate. She stated that they are asking the Arts
Board to help promote the event, in the meantime they will continue to seek funding.
The funding will help compensate the artists and performers.

In the event that Common Council members who are not members of this committee attend this
meeting, this meeting may also simultaneously constitute a meeting of the Common Council or any of
the following committees: Community and Economic Development, Finance and Personnel, Judiciary
and Legislation, Licenses, Public Safety, Public Works, Zoning, Neighborhoods & Development,
and/or Steering and Rules. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether the
presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the Common Council
or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee, whether any agenda
items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In the event that a
simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be taken at the
simultaneous meeting.

ART SUBCOMMITTEE
Limited parking for persons attending meetings in City Hall is available at reduced rates (5 hour limit)
at the Milwaukee Center on the southwest corner of East Kilbourn and North Water Street. Parking
tickets must be validated in the first floor Information Booth in City Hall.
Persons engaged in lobbying as defined in s. 305-43-4 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances are
required to register with the City Clerk's Office License Division. Registered lobbyists appearing
before a Common Council committee are required to identify themselves as such. More information is
