1. Review and Approval of the Previous Minutes of March 24, 2015.
Mr. Tovar moved approval of the meeting minutes from March 24, 2015. There were
no objections.
2. Review and Approval of the Sister City Agreement between Milwaukee and Zadar,
Croatia.
Members were distributed original and revised draft agreements for review. The draft
agreements can be found within Common Council File Number 140088.
Ald. Davis said that the original draft agreement was approved by the City of Zadar
City Council but does not meet the City of Milwaukee’s format. There have been
some diplomatic issues, but a revised draft agreement is before the committee after
approval from the City of Zadar. The revised version contains the same language of
the original but is arranged in a format consistent with the City’s standards.
Mr. Durtka moved approval of the revised draft agreement presented before the
committee. There were no objections.
Ald. Davis announced that there will be a Sister Cities signing ceremony on Monday,
May 1, 2015 at 10 a.m. in the City of Milwaukee City Hall Common Council
Chambers. Mayor Tom Barrett from the City of Milwaukee and Consul General
Jelena Grcic Polic, Ph.D., on behalf of Mayor Božidar Kalmeta, from the City of
Zadar, Croatia, will sign the revised version of the sister city agreement, as approved
by the committee and the City of Zadar.
