Youth Council CDBG reprogramming Ms. Deanna Wilburn appeared before council to distribute to council members ten applications that were submitted for RFP for Youth Services, these were: Center for Self Sufficiency 728 N James Lovell Street $30,000 Safe City 16 – 8 month program that integrates group mentoring, personal development through outdoor experimental learning, and healthy relationship education Crossing Jordan Ministries 606 W Concordia Ave $25,000 The program will assist youth and young adults that currently have special needs, mental health as well as trauma informed Care specialist to help youth affected by abandonment, abuse, neglect, and trafficking. Hearts for Harmony, Inc. 3845 N 37th street $30,437 Youth entrepreneurship Program – 10 week course that will expose youth to various business components. Neu Life community development 2014 W. North Avenue $20,000 ARTREACH – IS an interactive creative arts program to instill a sense of awareness about human/sex trafficking in our community’s youth and to empower them to City of Milwaukee Page 1 YOUTH COUNCIL Meeting Minutes October 18, 2017 become peer spokespersons. New Choices, LLC 3565 N Martin Luther King Drive $98,800 Multiple – Activities include comprehensive mental health assessment and personalized treatment plans, case management, life skills training; civic engagement; and mental health counseling. Running Rebels 225 W Capitol Drive $25,000 BTC- Year round initiative that youth will participate in literacy enrichment and credit recovery courses. Program also includes cultural and social development, health and wellness, and career/college readiness components. Social Development Commission 1730 W North Avenue $15,000 6 month program addressing mental health and ATODA in middle and high schools through monthly workshops. Partnerships with Hopkins Lloyd and North Division High School. United Community Center 1028 S 9th Street $15,000 Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) – activities include youth employment, career preparation, character development, and civic engagement and team work activities. WestCare Wisconsin, Inc 335 W Wright Street $40,000 Live Li Hood – Year round initiative. Activities include membership in the Youth Action Council (YAC), community outreach, job readiness, college readiness, reckless driving education and crime prevention. Wisconsin Community Services, Inc. 3732 W Wisconsin Ave $30,000 At-Risk Youth Driver’s License Recovery – year round initiative. Services include case management and civil court legal representation for youth who are experiencing active suspension and/or revocations to obtain or against a current Wisconsin Driver’s License. Whether a simultaneous meeting is occurring depends on whether the presence of one or more of the Common Council member results in a quorum of the Common Council or any of the above committees, and, if there is a quorum of another committee, whether any agenda items listed above involve matters within that committee’s realm of authority. In the event that a simultaneous meeting is occurring, no action other than information gathering will be taken at the simultaneous meeting. Persons engaged in lobbying as defined in s. 305-43-4 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances are required to register with the City Clerk's Office License Division.
