Minutes Board of Registrars’ Meeting September 5, 2014 City Hall Auditorium Present: Kathryn Fogal, Carol Cordero and Patricia Lucier. Also present: City Clerk Paul R. Bergeron 1. K. Fogal, Chair, called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. 2. P. Lucier moved to accept the minutes of Board of Registrars’ meeting of June 4, 2014. Seconded by C. Cordero. Motion passed. 3. P. Lucier moved to accept the deletions, additions and corrections to the checklist since the last meeting of the Board of Registrars. Seconded by C. Cordero. Motion passed. 4. C. Cordero moved to certify the checklist that will be used at the September 9, 2014, State Primary Election. Seconded by P. Lucier. Motion passed. 5. P. Lucier moved to appoint the following individuals to serve as Deputy Registrars during the September 9, 2014 election: 1 5 (cont.) Motion seconded by C. Cordero. Motion passed. 6. Other business. a. C. Cordero inquired how voters in Wards 1, 3 and 5 had been notified about the changes in their polling locations. The City Clerk summarized the ways the changes were publicized. He also said that a direct mailing went out to all registered voters in those wards and that during the address verification process conducted by Mailways, we learned that 2,172 of those voters had changed their addresses. The City Clerk added that following the September Primary Election, staff would begin the process of deleting those voters. b. K. Fogal stated that we should probably do a checklist purge in 2015 for the other six wards as well and asked the City Clerk to bring information to the Board’s next meeting on how that would be conducted. c. K. Fogal asked if any of the voter registrars found it useful to have flash drives containing their ward checklists during the last General Election. The City Clerk stated that he didn’t think anyone used them or, at least, there had been no positive feedback about their being available. K. Fogal indicated that she would still like one for the September Primary Election d. K. Fogal offered to pick up tabulators at any of the polling stations on Election night if the Clerk could use her assistance. The City Clerk said he would let her know. e. The next meeting of the Board of Registrars was scheduled for Friday, October 31, 2014 beginning at 10:00 am. 7. P. Lucier moved to adjourn at 10:25 am. Seconded by C. Cordero. Motion passed. 2
