MINUTES CITY OF NASHUA CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS COMMITTEE FY 2015 January 13, 2014 6:00 P.M. Room 208, City Hall 229 Main Street _________________________________________________________________________________ Members in attendance: Dan Kelly, Chair Charles Budris, Vice Chair Roger Houston, Secretary Ald. Dan Moriarty Larry Szetela Robert Canaway David Fredette John Griffin Ald. Brian McCarthy (Alternate) _________________________________________________________________________________ Marcia Wilkins (staff) Mindy Lavallee (staff) Also in attendance: Alderman Mary Ann Melizzi-Golja 1. Call to Order by Chair Dan Kelly called the meeting to order at 6:02 PM. 2. Approval of Minutes A motion was made to approve the minutes with the amendment to add Alderman Mary Ann Melizzi-Golja was present. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously. 3. Division Presentations a. Lisa Fauteux - Presentation by Department of Public Works We have prioritized our requests and each department will present the requests for FY 2015. Jeff Lafleur - Solid Waste Requests are the same from last year but they are permit driven.  Soil Wall Landfill  Landfill Gas Expansion Steve Dookran - Engineering  We have 12 projects on the list. A significant amount is for the street paving. The new project is for traffic improvements to the intersection of Charron Avenue and Amherst Street. Eric Ryder – Street Department  Stadium Drive Heating System Upgrade  DPW Truck Wash Nick Caggiano – Parks & Rec  There are 7 projects we have listed. Six of them have been before you for multiple years. We did get funding this year to replace the filter for Centennial Pool and it will be completed mid-April. The next step would be the resurfacing of the pool Mario LeClerc – Wastewater Department  The new project, the Defoamant Chemical Building is in response to a letter from the EPA that reported foam substance entering the Nashua River. Further discussion with the State to determine the necessity of this request will be aggressively sought after. b. Kerran Vigroux - Public Health Department  I have been here before and have talked about the need for a public health building and that need still exists. We are still looking at properties that become for sale. c. Shawn Smith - School Department There are 7 projects listed as follows:  Deferred Maintenance  Broad Street Elementary School  Replace Telephone System  Sunset Heights Elementary School Renovation  Main Dunstable Elementary School Renovation  Birch Hill Elementary School Renovation  Elm Street School Renovation d. Roger Houston – Community Development There are 4 projects:  Riverwalk  Southwest Trails  Rotary Common  Heritage Rail Trail East The committee discussed and voted on each project then prioritized the collective projects based on their respective designation A, B, C, D, or O. Motion by Dan Kelly to approve Short Term and Long Term Ratings as marked. Seconded by Bob Canaway. Motion carried unanimously.
