Guest: Carol Rust. TOPIC LEAD DISCUSSION / CONCLUSIONS 2. Park/Rec. Nick - Good news: AT&T wants to add an antenna to the cell tower would generate $$500 more a month to cell tower fund. Would increase the size of the pod. - Committee in total agreement for the additional antenna. - Bids are in for new park signs. Michie Company low bidder for the eight signs for $35,560 for concrete engineered stone weighing 11,000 pounds and will be four feet in the ground. - Will have a Q and R app so maps or whatever can be downloaded by phones, etc., and will have a vandal proof coating which will last as long as stone is treated with mineral oil. - Explanation of the new signs continued including having pop-out panels and an area for inserts. - Nick mentioned he had an enjoyable walk on March 24 in the park with committee members on the walk-through for trail day tasks. - Early work being done on the ball fields and soccer fields to get ready for the season. - Concession stand in the park hit again by would-be burglars but no entrance gained. Guest: Carol Rust. TOPIC LEAD DISCUSSION / CONCLUSIONS 3. Chairman's Notes Joshua - Greeted guest Carol Rust who will begin process of becoming a member of the committee. - Greg saw her kayaking in the park and she had loppers and a nifty nabber while kayaking in the canal and Carol will be a welcomed member of the committee. - Joshua emphatically stated he is back in the park. - He focused on hitting the dump sites which include the cove high wall and hidden lagoon. - Cleaned the hidden lagoon area and left two bags by the Millyard entrance by the canal. - Came back the next day and bags were gone. - Filled four bags and left them in the same area and discovered Dave Silva removed those four bags when he prepared the gate area for Nick's crew. - Still a mystery who removed the two other bags. - Credited the wood nymphs, city crews and committee members for recovering from the early snow and groundswell of people in the park during the warm and snowless winter we had. - Had expected the park to be "dirty" based upon Greg's daily reports of picking up trash in the park but the park is very clean. TOPIC LEAD DISCUSSION / CONCLUSIONS New Business .All - EMS Spring Club Day: As initiated by Mike Dillon as a good way of selling the park, the committee will be represented at the event on April 13 and 14 from the hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. - Greg and Joshua will be there April 13 at 10 a.m. Other volunteers to contact Joshua. - Sign over the Millyard Canal entrance moved to old business for next meeting under the lead of Ed Moran. - Nick needs concepts to approve and research. He approves of the arch idea proposed by Ed Moran. - TRAIL DAY April 21. - Joshua went over planned tasks and leaders assigned. - Starbucks to provide 12 volunteers for the day. - Joshua to contact Bishop Guertin and Nashua High South track coaches as Greg made contact with them while practicing in the park. Mark Soucy to work with Peter Testa on honor societies from the high schools to provide volunteers. - Gatehouse will not be open for the April trail day. - Mark Soucy volunteered to be the trail day director as Joshua will be unable to attend. - Tarp to kill off knotweed will be an experiment in progress to see if it works. New Business All - Nick's crews to take care of the water problem at the Whipple Street entrance and may even re-pave the Continued area to alleviate the water problem. - Red Trail closure and redirection headed up by Dave Silva, Dick Larose and Dick Gillespie - Nick's crews to handle the Millyard Canal entrance. - Area prepared by Dave Silva as stated earlier. - Sherm to handle crew at the Seventh Street Bridge fencing cutting out the bittersweet vines. - Carol Rust and her husband Jim along with Dick Larose cleaned the east overlook steep crawling on their hands and knees to get to the trash. This done early as well as getting some trash out of the canal. - Peter, Testa, Mark and Greg will man the registration desk.
