2. Park/Rec. Nick - Status of October storm Clean-up: 90 percent of wood chipped within 15 feet of the trails. A lot of work
accomplished still more to go.
- Weed harvest and pond treatment: Met with Conservation Committee and informed them of the plan for
the Nashua River, Mill Pond and Power Canal. Want notice of when it begins.
- First draft of River plans for review and comment. Canal and Mil Pond included, covers maintenance of
the areas though 2017.
- CC made aware of tree removal to improve flow of the canal, state permit for project.
- Resolution before Finance Committee for $30,000 matching fund from escrow for government grant for
the project.
- Fence posts have been cut at the base along Spine Road and removed. Footings remain. Will check if
more fencing can be removed...look at deed for specifics.
- Sign progress: Exciting as bids to be opened.
- Dog bag inventory: Bags have arrived this week, 7,000 of them.
- -Mohawk Tannery Connection: Nick passed around a map showing location of the tannery in
conjunction with Mine Falls Park for proposed pedestrian bridge from the tannery to the park by Mayor
Donnalee Lozeau.
- Discussion followed on the type of bridge and how problematic it would be due to the elevation of both
sides of the river for an ADA compliant pedestrian bridge. Will be investigated. Proposal would be
based on Seventh Street Bridge.
- Nick spoke on his "dream" to once have a pedestrian bridge at the Exit 6 rest area to connect to the park
but that now is used as the licensing area for the state Motor Vehicle Department. Would have been
great as provided parking and more access to the playing fields.
- Question rose about plowing of parking lot at Lincoln Park entrance to the park. Oval made instead of
thorough plowing. Handled by street department not Park Recreation. Reminded last year and plowing
was fine. Hopefully snow season over and won't present any notice this year.

TOPIC LEAD DISCUSSION / CONCLUSIONS
Old Business All - Marking of stumps and trees to be removed from the canal. Dick Gillespie stated ice prevented
a completion of the process but now the method is now complete. Have four members walk
the canal and record the items needed for removal on a chart made by Dick and then passed
on to Nick. Copies of the chart were shown to the members which lists the size and object
found along with location to help city or contractor remove the items. As soon as the ice clears
that task should be accomplished.
- Granite block in Triangle: Joshua suggested perhaps design students could come up with
some kind of plan on how to utilize the granite blocks putting them together using an epoxy
that keeps them solid. Perhaps contact Roger Pellerin.
- Spiff up Millyard canal entrance: Mark Soucy and Dave Silva to meet and determine what can
be done taking into consideration on how the Broad Street Parkway may affect the entrance.
- Greg mentioned looking up the history of the Ledge Street quarry which was believed to be in
that area.
- Nick's crews to take care of the water problem at the Whipple Street entrance and may even
re-pave the area. That would be accomplished in the spring to alleviate the water problem.
- Larger tarp for knotweed removal, tarp there now seems to be adequate for the experiment.
- Red Trail closure and redirection: Items deferred to next spring's agenda include the spiffing up of
the Millyard entrance; (Mark Soucy)
-Whipple Street entrance; Drainage ditch and triangle to the left where there are concrete or cement
blocks.
- Red Trail cliff by power line right of way to re-direct the trail and c lose off the dangerous section.
Marked off by a team of Nick and Joshua with Greg taking photos. Mike Dillon attended a portion of the
survey. Develop a Red Trail closure plan. Would be at least a two-Trail Day project.
- Dog poop problem brought up again... a never-ending correction problem for the committee.

New Business .All - Tannery Connection: Previously discussed. Location of proposed water park would be by
Rotary Pool.
- Date to assess condition of the park: March 24 at 9 a.m. meeting at the parking circle at Stellos
Stadium, the boat ramp entrance to the park.
- Nick recommended the committee focus on items during the walk through which need to be
done, such as the Red Trail renovation and closure. Committee members agreed. Joshua to
send an email reminding members of the walk through date.
- After the Red Trail members could head over to the Millyard but Nick may be able to provide
transportation.
- Nick received a phone call from the manager at Starbucks either Jessica or Jen, that they
could provide 15 people for a trail day. She will be notified of the trail day dates.
- Nick will place the order for Trail Day T-shirts which are handed out to volunteers. First Trail
