PERSONNEL/ADMINISTRATIVE AFFAIRS COMMITTEE DECEMBER 9, 2010 A meeting of the Personnel/Administrative Affairs Committee was held on Thursday, December 9, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. in the Aldermanic Chamber. Vice Chairman Kathy Vitale presided. Members of the Committee present: Alderman Arthur T. Craffey, Jr. Alderman Paul M. Chasse, Jr. Members Not in Attendance: Alderman-at-Large Ben Clemons, Chair Alderman Richard P. Flynn Also in Attendance: Mayor Donnalee Lozeau Chairman Vitale I believe I heard that Alderman Flynn was going to try and make it if he could. Alderman Chasse I believe he is upstairs. Alderman Craffey There is a Zoning Board meeting. Chairman Vitale And Alderman Clemons has a family emergency tonight. INTERVIEWS Review and Comment Commission Corey Genest (New Appointment) Term to Expire: December 1, 2013 Chairman Vitale Mayor Lozeau would you like to introduce him? Mayor Lozeau Thank you I would. Thank you Madam Chairman, I appreciate it. I am pleased tonight to bring in Mr. Corey Genest for the committee’s consideration. As I think you know Alderman Vitale because you serve as a commissioner on Review & Comment that Commissioner Alan Vail was unable to continue to serve. Last year Mr. Genest served as a volunteer on Review & Comment, liked it very much, and according to the commissioners that I talked to he did a very good job so that was very helpful. You will see from Corey’s resume that he is a local school teacher at Bishop Guertin High School. One of his subjects is American Government so he is always very involved one way or another, and, of course, teaches his students the same values of being involved in the community. Personnel – 12/09/10 Page 2 I first met Corey when he came into my campaign office when I was running for Mayor and wanted to volunteer. That was the first opportunity I had to meet him. It certainly gave me the opportunity to see his dedication to the community and the things that he was interested in. When we put a call out for volunteers, as I said, he was one of the ones that responded. His family has a long history in the community of giving back. His Mom is a school teacher also. His Grandfather owns one of the karate schools in town that has really been a solid influence in our community. I was very pleased to hear that Corey thought he would be able to serve in this capacity, and I am happy to bring him here for your consideration as I said. Thank you. Chairman Vitale Thank you. Would you like to say anything to the committee? Corey Genest Not at this time. Chairman Vitale Does anyone on the committee have questions for Mr. Genest? Alderman Chasse Just a comment; another great candidate that the Mayor has added to one of the committees for the City of Nashua. Mayor Lozeau Thank you. Corey Genest Thank you. Chairman Vitale Are there any other questions? Just so the rest of the committee knows Mr. Genest lives in Ward 1 so I am familiar with him and his family and the work ethic that he will bring to the Review & Comment Commission. His help will be very much appreciated by the committee. Thank you very much. Corey Genest Thank you. Mayor Lozeau Timing is good too. Chairman Vitale Yes it is. I hear we might have a couple of other people being brought forward for Review & Comment also, is that correct? Personnel – 12/09/10 Page 3 Mayor Lozeau Not commissioners. Chairman Vitale No? Mayor Lozeau No. Chairman Vitale Okay, well not commissioners, but… Mayor Lozeau I think there might be more volunteers that are willing to serve, but all of the commissioners that I am aware of… Chairman Vitale I’m thinking of…I’m sorry I was at the Child Care Advisory Commission meeting today… Mayor Lozeau There are some for the Child Care Advisory Commission yes. Yes that one I am aware of. Actually I think your Chairman is on the list tonight. Chairman Vitale Exactly that is why I am in the moment. If there is nothing else, thank you very much.
