Recommendation: 1. Retroactively approve "Conversations with Dev" scheduled on April
11, 2018 as a City Council sponsored Special Event and approve the
expenditure of funds.
2. Retroactively approve and accept donations from various
individuals, businesses or community groups to support the event.
3. Place the item on the May 1, 2018 Council Agenda for action.

18-236 Council District 10 as a City Council Sponsored Special Event to

Recommendation: 1. Approve the SVCTBA Tech Smart City Conference scheduled on
May 11, 2018 as a City Council sponsored Special Event and approve
the expenditure of funds.

2. ROGC Janus v. AFSCME Supreme Court Decision. (Peralez)

Recommendation: Request to agendize for City Council deliberation on April 24, 2018
that the City Council adopt a resolution urging the City of San José
to work with public sector unions in San Jose to ensure their health
and success; and support the freedom of city employees to
participate in unions post Janus v. AFSCME.

Recommendation: Forward the development of a Suicide Prevention Strategic Plan for
Council consideration during the City Council Priority Setting
Session, including but not limited to updating the City’s public safety
protocols for suicide attempts and internal procedures for suicide
prevention; promoting suicide prevention awareness; developing a
communications approach and plan; and directing City staff
collaborate with County personnel to produce an annual report about
suicide prevention policy, to coordinate and collaborate with County,
regional and state efforts, and to include community engagement in
developing a suicide prevention policy, as further detailed in the
Memorandum.

4. ROGC Update to the Sidewalks and Curb Ramps Financial Hardship
18-239 Assistance Program. (Peralez)
Recommendation: Direct City Staff to evaluate the Sidewalks and Curb Ramps
Financial Hardship Assistance policy including budgetary and
programmatic impacts and return to City Council with
recommendations for consideration including adjusting the income
level requirement to allow a reasonable number of Low Income and
Very Low Income households to be eligible.

ROGC Update to The Smart Cities and Service Improvements Committee
18-243 Work Plan for January - June 2018. (City Manager)
Recommendation: Approve the following changes to the January-June 2018 Smart Cities
and Service Improvements Committee Work Plan:
(a) Add the following item from the Smart Cities and Service
Improvements Committee (SCSI) Work Plan for May 3, 2018.
Facebook Live and Box Skills Pilot (City Manager’s Office, City
Clerk’s Office)
Purpose: To demonstrate the use of this technology for engaging the
general public with Council and Committee meetings in an online
platform.
(b) Drop the following item from the SCSI Committee Work Plan for
May 3, 2018. The item will be put on the Work Plan for Fiscal Year
2018-2019.
Access East Side (Innovation & Digital Strategy, Library, Information
Technology, Public Works)
Purpose: Provide an update on the deployment of a community wireless
network within the East Side Union High School District to provide
greater internet access to underserved students. Discussion and
feedback to staff.
