K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes December 5, 2017. The K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library Board met on Tuesday December 5, 2017 at 5:00 pm at the library. Present were Sandy Andera, Troy McQuillen, Peter Ramey, Misty Francom, Sharon Bain, City Council Member Clint Rux and Library Director Shirley Arment. The meeting was called to order. Troy McQuillen moved that the minutes of the November 7 meeting be approved. Sandy Andera seconded. Motion carried. The librarian’s report, as presented, was discussed. FINANCIAL MATTERS The current list of bills and financial statements were discussed. Sandy Andera moved that the current list of bills be paid and that the financial reports be received and placed on file. Troy McQuillen seconded. Motion carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS The Board continued discussion on the possibility of the Library opening on Sundays. City Attorney Ron Wager was on hand to explain the Boards responsibility relating to the Sunday issue. City Human Resource Director Al Ruhlman was also on hand to answer questions. The Board will include the Sunday hours question with future Strategic Planning for the library and will report back to the City Council when a decision has been reached. Troy McQuillen moved the library hire Library Strategies Consulting Group to work with the Library Board to develop a strategic plan for the K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library and that the Library Foundation be asked to pay for half of the fees from Library Strategies in the amount of $11,875.00 Sandy Andera seconded. Motion Carried. Misty Francom moved that the other half of the Library Strategies fees be paid for by the library credit union account in the amount of $11,875.00. Sandy Andera seconded. Motion carried. Discussion of changes to the Meeting Room policy was moved to the next meeting. The Board reviewed the library accomplishments for 2017 and the Library department supervisors, Cara Romeo, Sabrina Padfield and Kim Bonen along with Library Director Shirley Arment shared their goals for 2018 with the Board members and discussion was held on how these goals would be met.
