K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes September 4, 2018. The K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library Board met on Tuesday September 4, 2018 at 5:00 PM at the public library. Present were Board Members Peter Ramey, Troy McQuillen, Paul McDonald, Sharon Bain, Misty Francom, and Library Director Shirley Arment. Staff members Cara Romeo and Sabrina Padfield also attended the meeting. President Peter Ramey called the meeting to order. Troy McQuillen moved that the minutes of the August 7, 2018 meeting be approved. Sharon Bain seconded the motion. Motion carried. The librarian’s report, as presented, was discussed. FINANCIAL MATTERS The current list of bills and financial statements were discussed. Paul McDonald moved to approve that the current list of bills be paid and that the financial reports be received and placed on file. Misty Francom seconded. Motion carried. UNFINISHED BUSINESS The Board discussed points from the Library’s Strategic Plan. Shirley Arment reported on a library card campaign that will begin in September of 2018 and Paul McDonald reported on the recommendations made by a team that was formed to look at options for library Sunday hours. Paul McDonald moved to begin testing a Sunday schedule as recommended to the Board for 2018-19 after the plan is reviewed with City Manager Lynn Lander and the Aberdeen City Council. Troy McQuillen seconded. Motion carried. NEW BUSINESS Troy McQuillen moved to ratify the City Council’s acceptance of a check in the amount of $48,487.62 that was donated to the library from the estate of William Cameron Johnston. Paul McDonald seconded. Motion carried. The funds were deposited into the general fund at City Hall. The Library Board will discuss ways to use the fund for the library at the next meeting. Librarians Cara Romeo and Sabrina Padfield gave a presentation on Fall/Winter 2018 children’s, teen and adult programming at the library. The next Library Board meeting will be Tuesday October 2, 2018 at 5:00 PM at the Public Library. ____________________________ Its__________________________
