K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes January 4, 2022 The K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library Board met on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 5:00 PM at the Public Library. Present were Board Members Lynn Klundt, Peter Ramey, Troy McQuillen, Don Briscoe, Cindy Senger, Library Director Shirley Arment and City Manager Joe Gaa. Board President, Lynn Klundt called the meeting to order. OPEN FORUM Community member Robert Fay spoke in the open forum portion of the meeting. MINUTES Cindy Senger moved that the minutes of the December 7, 2021 meeting be approved. Troy McQuillen seconded the motion. Motion carried. LIBRARIAN’S REPORT The librarian’s report, as presented, was discussed. Library staff members Cara Perrion, Sabrina Padfield and Angela Williams described the upcoming programs planned for the Winter/Spring session at the library. FINANCIAL MATTERS The current list of bills and financial statements were discussed. Troy McQuillen moved to approve that the December 2022 bills be paid and that the financial reports be received and placed on file. Peter Ramey seconded. Motion carried. Shirley Arment updated the Board on the William Johnston bequest account balance and discussed ways to use that the remaining funds. She also reported that the Library Foundation Board received a $6,000 grant from 3M. The funds will be used to provide STEM activities, virtual programming, make and take kits and other family/children friendly programs. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Discussion was held on options for alternative entryway lighting for the Library. Shirley Arment will ask City Officials for input on the lighting options and report the findings to the Board at a later meeting. She also mentioned that water had dripped a few places in the Library during January and that the situation was being monitored and would be discussed with the City Manager and reported to Quest Construction officials. NEW BUSINESS There was no new business. EXECUTIVE SESSION Motion by Troy McQuillen, seconded by Peter Ramey to move into Executive Session to discuss a personnel matter. All voting Aye. Executive session started at 5:30 pm. Motion by Troy McQuillen, second by Cindy Senger, to move out of executive session. All voting aye. Session ended at 5:54 pm. The Libray Board moved back into regular session at 5:54 pm. Don Briscoe moved to accept the resignation/retirement of Library Director Shirley Arment and to direct the City Manager to move forward with the search for a new Library Director. Peter Ramey seconded. Motion carried. City Manager Joe Gaa asked that the Library Board move their next meeting date from February 1, 2022 to February 8, 2022 to allow time for the search process to occur. The Library Board agreed to the change. The next Library Board meeting will be Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 5:00 PM at the Public Library. ____________________________ Its__________________________
