July 8, 2023 / Town of Easton – Special Meeting Call to order at 10:30 am. Craig Wille, Marty McNew, Judy Taylor, Jodi Schappe and Public present Discussion/Action – Appointing of Town Clerk Resumes were submitted prior to the meeting. Discussion of candidates for the Town Clerk position occurred. Motion was made to “Appoint Cherie Barnier to the Town of Easton Town Clerk pending her acceptance of the position to complete the term ending April 2025”, first by Jodi Schappe, second by Marty McNew Questions were asked and answered. Vote taken, Motion passed. Discussion/Action – Refuse/Recycle Residential Service Options were discussed Public was included in discussion Decision to reach out to haulers and inquire on possible solutions Some questions/concerns were: • If there are residences that went with a solution recently, would there be a way to release the resident from an existing contract • If a resident owns multiple parcels that fall under the selection criteria for curbside pickup, could they only have pickup at one of their parcels A notice will be posted in the papers - Star, Dells Events, and Times Reporter for Hauler Bids – Criteria as follows: • Service to approximately 700 residences • Approximately 82 miles of town road • Weekly Garbage Pickup • Bi-weekly Recycle Pickup • 96 Gallon containers provided • Ability to exclude parcels owned by same owner that meets inclusion to curbside service The response to the notices will be sent to Jodi Schappe. No motion was taken, just a statement that a notice will be published to help gather information for further consideration at the next monthly meeting. Motion to “Adjourn”, first by Marty McNew, second by Jodi Schappe, vote taken, motion passed. Meeting adjourned at: 11:23 am. Witnessed by public in attendance.
