MINUTES OF CAUCUS
WEDNESDAY, August 12, 2020
The Common Council was convened at 5:30 p.m. and was called to order by President Pro Tem
Kimbrough. This meeting was held following Governor Cuomo’s executive order 202.1 and
Mayor Sheehan’s emergency order 315-1b. It live streamed on Facebook
https://www.facebook.com/albany.commoncouncil/ using Zoom as the meeting platform.
Members Present: Anane, Conti, Doesschate, Fahey, Farrell, Flynn, Frederick, Igoe, Johnson,
Kimbrough, Love, O’Brien and President Ellis.
Staff Present: Danielle Gillespie, John-Raphael Pichardo, Brett Williams, and Michele Andre.
Albany Police Department (APD) Chief Hawkins discussed gun violence and what steps APD is
taking to deal with the issue.
Vice President of Sustainability Advisory Committee (SAC) Pete Sheehan provide the Council an
update.
The agenda was discussed.
Research Counsel John-Raphael Pichardo, Esq. presented a letter from the Attorney of
Developer of the Seventy-Six (76) project regarding concurrent review of major development
plan and demolition plan by Department of Planning and Development and Planning Board. The
Department of Planning and Development in email to Research Counsel stated they had no
opposition. The Planning Board as well did not have opposition but wanted to inquire about the
Common Council. Councilmember Conti stated he had no opposition. No other Councilmember
had an opposition.
There being no further business, the President Pro Tem made a motion to adjourn, which was
duly made, seconded, and passed.
