Common Council Caucus & Regular Meeting

MINUTES OF CAUCUS Wednesday, January 29, 2025 The Common Council was convened at 5:40 PM in Conference Room 203 on the Second Floor of the University at Albany’s ETEC Building, Washington Avenue, and was called to order by President Pro Tempore Kimbrough. It livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook. Members Present: Balarin, Conti, Farrell, Flynn, Frederick, Hoey, Kimbrough, Keegan, Zamer Staff Present: Shaniqua Jackson (City Clerk), Bryan Jimenez (Legislative Director), Jake Eisland (Research Counsel), Alyssa Kamara (Junior Policy Analyst); Brett Williams (Deputy Corporation Counsel) Discussion/Questions:  President Pro Tempore Kimbrough discussed the Agenda for the February 3 regular meeting. o Council members discussed the veto override of Ordinance 27.91.24:  Council Member Keegan expressed her concerns regarding the contents and merits of the mayor’s veto letter. She also discussed the parking implications of the Ordinance on developers.  Council Member Farrell noted that the mayor’s administration (the Department of Planning) were direct collaborators in the development of Ordinance 27.91.24.  Council Member Hoey shared his concerns about the Ordinance, specifically noting his support for owner-occupied single family homes and strict parking regulations within the city. o President Pro Tempore Kimbrough raised the importance of passing the Bond Ordinances at the February 3 meeting to which Majority Leader Farrell, Council Member Keegan, and Deputy Corporation Counsel Williams discussed the additional information the Council had requested before passing the remaining bonds. There being no further business, President Pro Tempore Kimbrough adjourned the meeting at 6:16 PM.
