Re: 93 North Pearl Street, Nomination to the State and National Register of Historic Places
Dear Mayor Sheehan:
As part of the City of Albany’s Certified Local Government status, the Historic Resources Commission held a Public Hearing
on February 17, 2021 for the consideration of the proposed nomination of the Park Mart Renewal Project at 93 North
Pearl Street to the State and National Register of Historic Places.
Michael Lopez of Redburn Development Partners, who prepared the report for the property presented the nomination
and findings to the Historic Resources Commission. The Commission took public comment at the hearing; the Department
of Planning and Development sent a hearing notice to all property owners within 250 feet of 93 North Pearl Street. Cara
Macri from the Historic Albany Foundation spoke in support of the proposed nomination.
The Historic Resources Commission voted in support of the findings that the Park Mart Renewal Project meets Criteria A
and C of the National Register Criteria for Evaluation on a local level for its important association with Albany’s urban
renewal programs and as an early example of pre-stressed concrete construction.
