ALBANY COMMON COUNCIL PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE MINUTES Thomas Hoey, Chair Meeting called by: Thomas Hoey, Chair Date: December 14, 2022 Time: 6:20PM or directly caucus Committee Members Present: Hoey, Chair ☒ Flynn ☐ Frederick ☒ Balarin ☒ Kimbrough ☒ Present: Council Members Meghan Keegan, Gabriella Romero, Debora Zamer, Derek Present: Johnson, and Ginnie Farrell City Personnel Danielle Gillespie, Brett Williams, Ethan Samuel, and Jake Present: Eisland Minutes Agenda Item:  Interviewing Candidates for the CPRB Speaker(s): Kereama Gorousingh, Antoinette Santos Discussion  The Chair called the meeting to order.  Kereama Gorousingh discussed why she wants to join the CPRB  Council Member Hoey asked her if she was able to make the time commitment to the CPRB.  Council Member Balarin asked how her background has gotten her to where she is and how they can help her tackle the issues the CPRB will deal with, in which Kereama Gorousingh responded to.  Council Member Frederick asked Kereama Gorousingh to discuss any experience that would help conduct research and for her to be impartial and unbiased, in which Kereama Gorousingh responded to.  Council Member Kimbrough asked her how her time management skills and conflict management skills are, asked about the assembly member Kereama Gorousingh works for and the committees they are in, in which Kereama Gorousingh responded to.  Council Member Johnson thanked Kereama Gorousingh for coming and interviewing.   Nairobi Vives discussed the things that the CPRB do and take part of, asked if Kereama Gorousingh has the time to take time out of her personal time to help the CPRB, asked Kereama Gorousingh if she found any sub committees interesting in the CPRB and asked Kereama Gorousingh to talk about her work in the assembly, and her opinion on law enforcement, in which Kereama Gorousingh responded to.  Antoinette Santos discussed why she wants to join the CPRB.  Council Member Balarin asked what is her goal for being on the CPRB, in which Antoinette Santos responded to.  Council Member Frederick asked Antoinette’s willingness and the effort she can make to make time for the CPRB, in which Antoinette Santos responded to.  Council Member Kimbrough asked about her time management skills, in which Antoinette Santos responded to.  Council Member Johnson thanked Antoinette Santos.  Council Member Romero thanked Antoinette Santos.  Nairobi Vives discussed the time commitment needed for the CPRB, discussed what committees Antoinette Santos would like, Antoinette Santos discussed times in her background that were related to dealing with difficult people, Nairobi Vives asked if Antoinette Santos if she had any experience with mediation, in which Antoinette Santos responded to.  Antoinette Santos asked if the people who send in the complaint forms if they receive acknowledgement, asked if there are complaints not accepted, in which Michele Andre responded to.  Council Member Balarin made a motion to move forward the candidate that was voted on in executive session for the CPRB with a positive recommendation, seconded by Council Member Frederick.
