SUSTAINABILITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE (SAC)
Event Notes: January 7, 2021
Attending: Daniel Kirk-Davidoff (Secretary), Jason West (Energy Manager, also representing
Chris Spencer, Planning), Joe Coffey (Water Department), Lauren Alpert (Planning), Randy
Milano (Engineering), Ewa Sobczynska (Outreach), Andre Lake (Environmental Equity), Scott
Kellogg (Urban Ag), Hyde Clark, Gabriella Cebada Mora (Water), Randy Milano (City Engineer),
Sarah Valis (Law Dept), Pete Sheehan (Energy) (presiding), Bill Trudeau (Traffic Engineer), Zach
Powell (Planning)
Absent: Tina Lieberman (Chair), Frank Zeoli (DGS)
1. Regular Business
● Pete Sheehan opened the event at 6:01 pm.
2. New business
● (40 min) Presentation about NYSERDA energy efficiency and electrification
programs, subsidies and incentives for residential and small business customers
(Empower and Home Performance) by Kathleen Langton, Energy Program Manager
at the Affordable Housing Partnership (AHP). Great presentation and Q&A
conversation afterwards.
● (10 min) Discuss Albany signing on to promote NYSERDA energy efficiency &
electrification programs as a Clean Energy Community
● (15 minutes) Energy Subcommittee letter from the SAC to the Energy Efficiency and
Housing Committee of the Climate Action Council (signatures wanted). Pete’s
looking forward to receiving comments, will revise and bring to the February meeting
for approval.
● (15 minutes) Presentation: 2019 Albany Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory
(Jason). Will finalize and disseminate for approval at the next meeting.
● Reminders: Requests for a SUNY Albany intern are due January 15th + All
subcommittees need a brief description for SAC volunteer recruitment flier
3. Adjournment: event ended at 7:10 pm. Next SAC meeting is Thursday, February 4 2021, at 6
pm, probably by Zoom.
