POLICE, FIRE AND LICENSE COMMITTEE
May 25th, 2022
The regular meeting of the Police, Fire and License Committee was called to order by Chairperson
Fred Johnson at 6:30 p.m. in the Albany Village Hall, 206 North Water Street, Albany, WI.
Members present were: Johnson, Deanna Hubert, Larry Nipple, Bert Hefty, Dennis Atkinson,
Chief Ritter and Chief Mueller. Absent: Doug Lawrence. Also present: Tonya Stephen.
Proof of posting was verified.
MINUTES: Motion by Nipple, seconded by Hefty, to approve the minutes of the previous
meeting. Carried.
PUBLIC APPEARANCES: None.
FIRE CHIEF CONCERNS: Chief Mueller reported they have been researching new fire
engines. The new engines are running around $560,000 and are 18 months out after order is placed.
River rescue training was completed; capable anchor points need to be installed. Stephen
recommended the fire department hire a grant writer.
POLICE CHIEF CONCERNS: Chief Ritter updated the committee on a plan to be prepared for
tubing season, using grant money to hire officers from other departments to patrol.
LOWER RIVER CABLE: This item should have been Upper River Cable. Motion by
Johnson, seconded by Hefty, to send to the village board to approve funds to have an engineering
firm design the rescue anchor points for above the dam. Carried.
2022-2023 LICENSE RENEWALS: Motion by Nipple, seconded by Hefty, to renew all Class
“A” Beer Licenses as printed; Class “B” Beer Licenses as printed; Class “A” Liquor Licenses as
printed; Class “B” Liquor Licenses as printed; Class “C” Wine Licenses as printed; all cigarette
licenses as printed; all coin machine licenses as printed; all amusement device licenses as printed;
all gambling device licenses as printed; and all dance permit licenses as printed. Carried.
OPERATOR’S LICENSES: Motion by Nipple, seconded by Atkinson, to approve all 2022-
2023 renewal operator’s licenses as printed. Carried.
TRAINING: Nothing.
OPERATOR’S LICENSES: Motion by Nipple, seconded by Hefty, to approve an operator’s
license for Lily Larson. Carried.
ANNOUNCEMENT AND FUTURE ITEMS: Look into training for installing boards and other
work in the water near dam. Police river update.
ADJOURN: Motion by Nipple, seconded by Hubert, to adjourn. Carried.
